  • Noisy birds at breakfast, more work done in the garden and a chicken

    - 04 Sep 2012 - 1 comment
I took a little video of the noisy starlings having breakfast, they are hooligans at feeding time. I managed to get some more tidying up done in the front garden and a little in the back . Of course I can't attack the rough area I was on yesterday because the little frog is in residence. I am searching for a couple of suitable stones to put there for him. One of my neighbours called round before and asked me if I could use a small roast chicken sans breasts. It seems her and hubby only eat th…

  • Spiders a frog and some work done

    - 03 Sep 2012 - 1 comment
I finally got into the back garden today after weeks of lousy weather. The place is a real mess so I set to with mower to cut the part laughingly called a lawn. I had it nearly cracked when my mower threw a shoe so I had to break for running repairs i.e. change the blades. Even then a lot of it was too much for the mower re-shod or not. I brought the Bosch strimmer into action which cuts through almost anything but it is messy. I finally finished that side and moved to the really rough area whe…

    - 03 Sep 2012
As summer draws to it's final cold bitter ending and we welcome Autumn with fresh hope for decent weather the young starlings are getting their adult feathers. They are change from sandy brown to the wonderful gold and silver speckles that shine in the sunlight. Here are some I snapped yesterday at the free for all that is lunch Click here for photos

    - 02 Sep 2012 - 2 comments
Keep it to yourself but my best buy today was this. A fresh raspberry cream and raspberry fruit filling on layers of light sponge cake.Click for a scrummy close up It is every bit as tasty as it sounds but don't tell Jenny. She is a raspberry freak and will be on the night train to get here before I scoff it all. so SSSSSSHHHHHH

  • A few flowers and boats and attacked by a giant pasty

    - 02 Sep 2012 - 1 comment
A sunny Sunday morning so I sauntered over to the mainland for a few provisions. I called at Morrisons for some pipe fodder before wandering into Cool Trader the best shop in town for frozen food. They don't only do frozen but most of the lines you would get in the big supermarkets only a lot cheaper. This monster pasty from the Welsh Pantry cost £1 and very tasty it was. Two bags heavier and £12 lighter I cut through to the bus stop. I took some shots…

  • A Wolf in sheep's clothing

You may have seen the photos of the old Ford I posted earlier if not here they are. A 1956 Ford Anglia But all is not as it seems, the power is provided by a V8 Rover engine and the back axle is from a Jaguar. The young fella who has it only bought it a few days ago as a project and he drove it up from the south coast a journey of over 300 miles. He is going to fit a Jaguar engine in it and race it. I will follow the process as he said I was welcom…

  • A blue Peter style moon

    - 31 Aug 2012 - 1 comment
Tonight is the night of the harvest moon and a blue moon to boot, the general meaning of blue moon is two moons in one calendar month although there are quite a few differing definitions and of course harvest moon is self explanatory. Not trusting our weather, she can be a treacherous beast, I took some photos last night in true Blue Peter "Here's one I made earlier" style. It is a good job I did because after I spent a nice morning in the park taking photos this afternoon the rains returned an…

  • Ducks and geese etc around the park

    - 31 Aug 2012 - 1 comment
I had to go to town this morning so I wandered around the park. I was in good nick as usual and I had a good chat to the local birds, Geese mostly. They are very friendly now a big change from when they have young chicks when as you can understand they are very aggressive. I took snaps of them and the other birds, the moorhen is my favourite their over-sized feet always make me smile.the similar looking but larger Coot is another I like. They are easy to tell apart by the colour of their heads I…

  • A stroll along pebble beach

    - 30 Aug 2012 - 2 comments
I decided on a walk up to pebble beach this morning with the aim of strolling south through Thorney Nook to the village and cutting back along the channel side. This plan depended on the recent floods subsiding but alas they hadn't. When I got half way down Thorney there was standing water as large as life. I let the cavalry go ahead in the shape of a young girl with her pony. The pony didn't appear too keen to be led through it and by the time they had reached the corner it was obvious I would…

  • A thunder storm, another trip to NUmpty HQ and a nice supper

    - 29 Aug 2012 - 2 comments
More rain after a dry morning a huge thunder storm rattled through and dumped a lot of water on us. The sun returned for a little while later but didn't last long. I was over at the Numpties again setting a wireless connection up for their new neighbours to get on the net using Dot's server and picked some fat balls up for the birds at the same time. Settled in for the night I wondered about supper, I thought egg and bacon flan but didn't feel like making pastry so I boiled some spuds up and s…

  • Peggy the gull

    - 29 Aug 2012 - 1 comment
For you newbies you will if you read my blogs hear about Peggy,Peggy is not a person Peggy is a Herring Gull that my late beloved Margaret started feeding about 14 years ago.She is named Peggy because she has a bad left leg if this is through injury or a birth defect I don't know but you can clearly see left knee if she had knees is way higher than the right. Over the years Peggy has brought fledglings to my garden before they wandered off into the big wide world. She has trust in me and…

  • Back from the happy farm

    - 28 Aug 2012
I have returned from the dangers of the mainland back to God's Island. I paid a visit to the The numpty house as part of my care in the community work. My first job was finding anything pointy so they would come to no harm and then hiding it. They are not good with pointy things. Then I had to sit while they force fed me beer. It is a very tough job but I soldier on through. We had a visit from their new neighbour's a pleasant pair of young ladies and we chatted about bugger all really for the…

  • The rain has stopped so I'm off to the home for the slightly bewildered

    - 28 Aug 2012
Today is a better day, still windy but for the moment it's dry. I am going to make a break for freedom later and pay the Numpties a visit. It's a while since I saw them so no doubt they will have new tales of woe to tell me. They spend their lives bumbling along colliding with one crisis after another. If there isn't a crisis happening just hang around the next one will be along soon. So it will be an early lunch for me,some sort of comfort food to fortify me for the ordeal ahead after which I w…

  • " There's nowt as queer as folk"

    - 27 Aug 2012 - 1 comment
It's getting just like Multiply on here. I have collected a few new friends to go with some old ones and settling in nicely but the same quirks have surfaced in some folk on here as on Multiply I have three who invited me who haven't posted any blogs and don't visit or seem to comment on anything on any pages and one I invited who didn't accept or include me in their network but visits almost every day and leaves comments. Now is the weird or is it just me? I don't mind that at all I like str…

  • Another rainy day in paradise

    - 27 Aug 2012
The rain is hammering on the windows to be let in,we have gales forecast for later in the day. Remember the old line Oh to be in England now that Summers here? Well it gave us a miss this year. We have a gale warning, alerts out on floods. and what I laughingly call my garden is under water. The birds have not come visiting for breakfast and the streets are awash, just another rainy day in paradise. I have posted an album of a few flowers just to brighten up my day, looks like I am cabined up again…

  • A good film and a break for freedom before the rain

    - 26 Aug 2012
I am not one for watching films as those who know me will tell you. Modern films seem to be all computer enhancement things with very little acting involved.Last night as sleep didn't come easy which is often I browsed my downloads on BT vision and after reading the blurb I thought a film was worth a look. It is called Tara Road from the book by Maeve Binchy. It is probably not what would be termed nowadays as a film for men because modern man supposedly likes films that are all gung ho, under…

  • Cabined up again and eggy bread for supper

    - 25 Aug 2012 - 5 comments
The rain has lashed down again today leaving me stuck inside. It seems an absolute age since I got a walk along the beach. I had a rethink about the fittings for the hob and think I have it right now, but tomorrow is another day and it is not unknown for me to change course on projects as a better idea comes to mind. Thinking and planning apart I have done very little, I even watched a little footie on the goggle box, thankfully the egg chasers are back next week so I won't have to watch the ove…

  • The hob arrived so more work to do

    - 24 Aug 2012 - 3 comments
The new hob arrived today so I set to and measured up to build a case for it. After two or three ideas which I scrapped I now have the plan sorted. I was going to cut the wood up today for the base and stays but the rain arrived. Since I got a second freezer which went into the workshop I have no room to work there and intended take my portable workbench outside but of course the weather scuppered that idea. I checked on the wiring set up and found it was set to factory default which is phase 3…
