I am a happy bunny today.
- 14 Oct 2012 - 3 commentsI am a happy bunny today. A lot of you will know I like watching sport on the goggle box, mostly the egg chasers. Well I have been trying to find a live feed to watch the games I don't get on my TV set up. Up until now they have all been fiddly, want to put their own task and search bars in and leave a lot of junk on the computer but at last I have struck gold. I found a site yesterday that is simple to use and junk free/ So after a trail run last night I decided to hook up my laptop to a TV. I…

Message from Jenny and an answer for Max
- 13 Oct 2012 - 1 commentI have just come off the phone after my daily ear bashing from Jenny. She is having fun at Mandi's and her son might visit them tomorrow but no firm promise. The bus ride was a little erratic but no doubt she will tell you all about that when she returns on Monday. I did tell her what Max said about the dangle and she is going to run a poll tomorrow and see what re-action she gets. The outcome will probably be the arrest of an silly old woman from North Devon causing mayhem in the big city.…

A cold wind,a visitor,and a load of drivel
- 12 Oct 2012 - 3 commentsThe wind has turned to the north and cold winds are chilling us a little but the rain has buggered off for a while and it needed to after more flooding in town. There are regular floods on the island it being so low lying but they don't affect people much, only the road to Biggar Village can be a bother at times like this but they are hardy folk down there are used to it. My back is still acting the oil can so I am having another quiet one I have been catching up on my reading. I had a nice s…

and so it starts again.
- 11 Oct 2012 - 4 commentsAutumn has appeared at a frightening rate and soon the clocks will go back and we will be eating our dinners with the lights on, central heating systems will be turned up solid fuel fires stoked higher and winter woolies will be brought out. Long walks on a dry crisp Autumn days are good,we wrap up accordingly and think of nice evenings all safe and snug indoors with a good book and some piping hot soup with crispy bread. There is a but of course there always is and today the bad news started.…

Gardening,Ouch,a visitor and a few blooms hanging around
- 10 Oct 2012 - 3 commentsI have managed to get the front grass cut and trimmed hard work though it was. I couldn't prune the miniature roses they are still flowering. I have a small bush with about 8 red blooms and another 2 with white blooms. I had just finished and about to have a brew and a chew when I had a back spasm that sent me staggering. So that put a stop to all work for the day. I lowered myself carefully onto the settee and got my feet on foot stool until my back started to behave itself again. My daughter…

A dry day again maybe I can get into the garden
- 10 Oct 2012 - 2 commentsToday is the third dry day running which has been rare of late, the sun is still fighting some stubborn clouds but I think it's got the upper hand. I'm just messing about on here reving myself up to make the move and get the boots on and garden tools out. Once I start I will be fine but the initial push is not coming easily this morning. I think that is because the weather has wrecked the garden this year and any enthusiasm has been knocked out of me. Still this may be the last chance of at gett…

fresh tomatoes,a supermarket and sunshine
- 09 Oct 2012 - 9 commentsI have a few tomatoes from my friend and neighbour John. Despite the most horrendous summer I can remember and helping him to pick the pieces up when his little greenhouse was blown apart by an earlier storm this year he has managed to get a few plants to fruit. This is late in the year for tomatoes and there is a big variety in size from jaffa down to gobstopper but they are very welcome. Work has started on clearing the old shop to make a site for the new Tesco Express. These a…

A trip to mother's
- 08 Oct 2012 - 2 commentsI went to see my old Mother today, well she would be old of course being my mother. Anyway I took myself off along the channel-side and up over the big climb. The big climb is an old slag bank from the Iron working days here. A lot of it was carted off to make road filling for motorways and the like but there is still a big chunk left. It is around 115 ft in height and just under a mile long with a winding path over the top. The local authorities just grassed it and planted saplings a few years…

What does the Internet do for silver surfers?
- 05 Oct 2012 - 4 commentsI think the Internet has a lot to give the silver surfer and Vice versa. Apart from making it easy to keep in touch with distant family and friends we can discover new worlds out there with the help of our global contact list of friends. Some join groups of people with shared interests, some show us their homeland through stunning photos and well written blogs. We get close to some and become firm friends sharing our daily trails and triumphs. These are things that will keep our brains active whi…

The rain has stopped, freedom at last
- 04 Oct 2012 - 5 commentsAfter the two wettest days I can remember the rain is finally clearing and I can see the sky again. We have had floods along the promenade and on the mainland. There has been heavy flooding in town and the surrounding districts, some villages were cut off completely. A landslide cause rail delays just outside town and power cuts have been widespread and plentiful. Checking the weather outlook shows we are do a short dry spell until Sunday so I will be able to get out and about. An early lunch a…

This is Barmy bird
- 02 Oct 2012 - 3 commentsThere has been a few tales of pets on here lately so here is mine. I had a little budgie which I named Barmy as soon as I got him because of his antics. As we grew to know each other he showed me great affection and would fly to me as soon as I came into the room. He was a free flying bird,he had a cage with a swing and a bell but I removed the door so he had the run of the room and the cage was just another toy to him I took a few videos of him this one is my favourite. Notice when the music…

Getting ready for the winter
- 01 Oct 2012 - 1 commentI have prepared my room ready for winter. This entailed moving my glass table into the kitchen and the wooden one into here. The wooden table is much warmer for a work station of course and roomier With a little shifting around I now have the glass table as a completely clear work top in the kitchen. It is ideal for pastry work of course nice and cold and very easy to clean. The bird's fat balls etc fit snugly underneath and my pans and small appliances fit nicely on the metal rack which I just…

- 01 Oct 2012 - 2 commentsT he morning rain cleared leaving a sunny if windy afternoon so I wandered over town to get the pipe fodder I was stopped from getting yesterday by the weather. After picking up the fodder I went to B&M bargain hunting and picked a few choice items cheese, custard creams, coffee, white baps(6 for 55p)fat balls and nuts for the birds and other odds and ends. The bargain of the day was 4 large bottles of beer for £4:99 I like trying different beers and this pack had an English Bitter,A dark Stout,an…

Somethings make me sad
- 30 Sep 2012 - 2 commentsI have all my photos set at copyright and this is plain on the pages despite this somebody I thought was a friend has posted a photo of mine featuring a young starling and passed it off as their own. It even still has my name and copyright sign on it If anybody wants to use my photos in non profit making ways I don't mind as long as I am credited with it. I am a little sad over this. Logging off for the night

No bagain hunting today
- 30 Sep 2012 - 2 commentsFolks who know me will tell you I hate shopping ,that is if you cared to ask them. I hate the overpriced shiny supermarkets, the little bargain shops I do get along with. My normal Sunday morning would be a stroll over town,I would pick up some pipe fodder then wander up to B&M they are like an Aladdin's cave of relishes, sauces, pickles and jams etc from small little known suppliers as well as from well known names from the past I thought were no longer around. After I have trawled their shelve…

I have caught lazyitis
- 29 Sep 2012 - 3 commentsI am usually very active with tasks and projects going on all the time. Of late I haven't felt the need to do anything,I have a lavatory half painted and a bathroom waiting it's turn. I also have the wreck of a spare room on the horizon which is going to become a guest room. Compared with the work I did last year on the kitchen, the little bit I did on this room this year is a pretty poor performance. I think the reason may be the lousy wet summer I haven't been farther than 5 miles from home…
