1883 Acasis viretata (Yellow-barred Brindle)

1883 Acasis viretata (Yellow-barred Brindle)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 20-28mm.

This little species seem to be mis-named with its common name, as it is not often seen as a yellow colour, being generally green coloured. Apparently, older specimens fade to a yellowish tint, but I've not seen them other than the above colour. A locally occurring species through most of the UK, it is fairly common in Cornwall.

The flight season in the south of UK is defined as two generations occurring May / June and late July to early September, but records in Cornwall show that it can occur quite plentifully from February to early October, with a slight dip in numbers in July.
