1802 Perizoma affinitata (Rivulet)

1802 Perizoma affinitata (Rivulet)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 24-30mm.

A common species throughout the UK. The larger of two very similar species which can be difficult to identify superficially due to the variability in size of both. The most specific identifying feature of this species is the single inside deep notch in the middle of the main dual white cross-line of the fore-wing. This is doubled with the smaller species.

The flight season in the UK South ranges from late May to September in two generations, although in Cornwall, individuals can also be seen from April. The main peak flight time is in May / June, and there appears to be more recorded in the west of the county.
