1778 Hydriomena impluviata (May Highflyer)

1778 Hydriomena impluviata (May Highflyer)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 26-32mm.

Another of the "Highflyers" which generally occurs before H. furcata in the year. Wing patterns are somewhat similar, but there are usually 2 or 3 short black lines near the tip of the fore-wings, and a broad white band across the fore-wings.

Common throughout the UK, and also widespread but not so common in Cornwall. Records seem to indicate them to occur more towards the east of the county. As the common name implies, the flight season peaks in May, although individuals can be seen from late April to June.
