1755 Eulithis testata (Chevron)

1755 Eulithis testata (Chevron)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 26-38mm.

A common species throughout the UK, but in Cornwall is more likely to be found on open moorland and heaths to the west of the county. Can be distinguished from 1756 Northern Spinach by having a relatively smooth V-shape to the outer edge of the central cross-bar of the fore-wings. In the south, Chevrons tend to be quite pale coloured.

The flight season in Cornwall is from July to early September, but occasional early specimens may be seen in late June. There is just one generation annually.
