1756 Eulithis populata (Northern Spinach)

1756 Eulithis populata (Northern Spinach)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 26-36mm.

Although considered common throughout the UK, in Cornwall, the distribution is generally only seen as local populations to the east of the county. Here it is generally darker than the 1755 Chevron, and the cross-wing bar has a dual lobe on the outside edge of it. Within the bar, there are a number of circular markings along its length. It may be found in moorland and open woodland where it's foodplant occurs.

Only relatively small numbers have been recorded in Cornwall, with a narrow flight season ofcovering June and July. An occasional specimen may be possible in early August.
