1773 Electrophaes corylata (Broken-barred Carpet)

1773 Electrophaes corylata (Broken-barred Carpet)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 28-32mm.

This small "Carpet" is a common species throughout the UK and also widespread in Cornwall, although records indicate that it could be slightly more prolific in the west of the County. Freshly emerged specimens are quite colourful, so they stand out well amongst other species. The only species where the cross-wing band has a break in it.

In Cornwall, the flight season appears to be May and June, but occasionally specimens may be found from March to July.
