A view from the mill window.
Across the River Stour from Sturminster Newton Mill.
I saw what I think is a Derek Kinzett wire sculpture along the river footpath. A nice touch, holding the bird feeder.
A multi-span bridge, dating from the late C15 or early C16; widened in the C17. It has traffic lights as it is only wide enough for cars going one way.

I'd love to see a large version of the multi-span bridge, I think it would be excellent.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton clubHave have previously taken a closer picture of the bridge. I am away for a few days but I will look it out when I'm back. I once saw an exhibition of Derek Kinzett's wire sculptures in Lacock Abbey and always liked them, so was delighted to spot this one. Actually there was another at the other end of the balcony but I couldn't get a clear shot of it.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to John GoodwinRosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Malik Raoulda clubThe wire sculpture reminds me of the work of Andy Scott (of Kelpies fame). The pose of the sculpture sitting on the edge of the balcony is reminiscent of Antony Gormley.
I love the angle from which you have photographed the old bridge. The curve of the river adds ideal foreground interest, and acts as a lead-in line to draw the eye to the main subject.
Cheers,
Joe
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Joe, Son of the Rock clubYes I can see similarities to Andy Scott and Antony Gormley. I saw a wonderful exhibition of Derek Kinzett's work in the grounds of Lacock Abbey a few years ago and was very taken with it. I was really excited to this two of his sculptures (I'm sure they are his) sat either end of the balcony of this house.
I was quite a distance from the bridge Joe and wish now that I had walked closer to it along the river. Never mind, something for next time! Your comments on all three pictures are much appreciated. Cheers, Rosa.
