Wishing you all a great new week. Sorry about my infrequent visits. Should be back on track soon.

Ninesprings Country Park

This shot was taken just over a year ago in Ninesprings Country Park, Yeovil, Somerset. The light that day made it a magical and even more enjoyable walk.

Garden Snowdrops

My garden snowdrops are looking good, and now the daffodils are in bloom! (PiP)

Old & New

10 Jan 2024 35 33 110
The old chicken houses and the new Restaurant at The Newt in Somerset. Unfortunately I can't visit Ipernity as often as I would like at the moment, so visits and comments in your galleries and replies to comments in mine, may be a case of 'catch up' for a couple of weeks. Have a good weekend everyone.

Crockerton Garden Centre.

Another picture I took at the garden centre. I thought the early blossom against the backdrop of deciduous trees looked lovely on a very cold day!

Snowdrops

Pictures taken in my garden. The first two on sunny 26th of January and the third on the 25th, which wasn't so sunny!

The Cutest Guard Dog!

Taken a few years ago at the East Coker Alms Houses, at the entrance to the village church.

Traveller & Teacher

10 Jan 2024 29 55 115
I hadn't heard of Carl Linnaeus before I saw the cart in this picture, at The Newt. I have added a short video of about 4 minutes long, from The Natural History Museum, if you are interested. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb_IO-SzLgk

Cloche!

10 Jan 2024 17 20 63
Good attention to detail in The Newt's vegetable garden. As you can see in the PiP, the cloche mimics the shape of the fruit cages.

We are Open!

A cafe in Bournemouth ~ I never did find the way in though! Would have been interesting! I have seen something like this in the Netherlands, but the first of its kind I have seen here.

Half-Frozen Lake

One from the archives, dusk at Topsham near Exeter, Devon.

The Viper

10 Jan 2024 49 73 127
The Viper elevated walkway at The Newt in Somerset. Two PiPs showing the structure from below, which can only be seen in winter.

Fallow Deer

10 Jan 2024 38 69 120
I was lucky enough to see this small herd of fallow deer, mostly Does and young Fawns. As soon as they saw me, they were quick to leave, as seen in the first PiP! Continuing the walk I saw a Buck in the distance. The photo is not great but the best I could do in the circumstances. 2nd PiP. Better viewed large.

The Orangery at The Newt

Walking towards The Orangery, the perfect place to sit in with a warming drink on a cold January day.

Keeping Warm ~ The Newt in Somerset.

Keeping warm on the first visit to The Newt in Somerset this year. A fire inside and out!

Lighting the Darkness

Connected ~ Fontmell Magna

03 Jan 2024 36 73 112
The River Stour runs through the village and this scene is between the church and the village shop. The name Fontmell derives from a Celtic river-name meaning 'spring by the bare hill', and Magna—meaning great—distinguishes this settlement from Fontmell Parva (parva meaning small).
