Da haben wir in Ostdeutschland eine völlig andere Entwicklung erlebt. Besonders die Altstädte waren vor 1990 ziemlich runtergekommen. Heute ist fast egal wo man hinkommt, alles wieder saniert. Allerdings haben die meisten Ostdeutschen bis heute viel niedrigere Einkommen als die Westdeutschen. Da wir aber sparsamer sind, geht es uns trotzdem gut. ;-)

Mir gefallen diese Mauern und dieTüre dazu sehr gut lieber Andy:))

Desertification takes account of old rural villages. In Portugal is the same.

Except this was a town of some importance and its decline (mirrored by so many others) seems protracted, sad, problematic on so many fronts and inevitable, unless we get some blue-sky thinking, some heads knocked together, and a will to see change happen. Yes that will exists but the task is a long and hard one.

With the COVID crisis, many people have returned to their birthplaces to keep safe from pandemics. However, for a short period. Now the movement was finished. We will see if it continues with the next pandemics.

Time will tell, but I'm not optimistic on the larger scale; perhaps a few small-scale initiatives will show the way.

I posted it on a whim. It sat in my archive files in the cloud for ages and I've not thought it worthwhile posting before now, when I had a re-think and said to myself; 'maybe it does have something after all' and here you have it!
