One of the two Torres Kio, Madrid (Torre Kio Este).

One of the two Torres Kio, Madrid (Torre Kio Este).
Revolutionary for the early 1990s, these leaning towers were a noted landmark and perhaps still are, even if the nearby Cuatro Torres now steal their limelight.
The main bus terminal for buses to the north lies underground here on many levels. I just missed my bus by seconds so had two hours to wait for the next one (a much reduced summer 'service'!). With time to kill I went for a walk and took this shot on a whim.

The straight line on the right underlines how much the tower leans! I wouldn't feel too comfortable in one of the upper floors;-)

Thank you, Gudrun!
I taught for many years on the top floor of the sister building opposite (teaching Business English to the senior bods at Bankia). The views over the Guadarrama Mountains were spectacular from there. The place did not not engender any feeling of insecurity!

I guess being inside the tilt doesn't register as the floors aren't tilted:-)

An interesting building. I suppose the floors inside are already built horizontally... ?

Thank you all! It is usually shown with it's twin, leaning across from the other side of the Plaza de Castilla, but I thought just to show one for a change!

Whims can be beneficial as well as detrimental, precisely because of their lack of forethought, Maggie. But of course you know that! :o)

Hi Andy
A very nice picture, which I like very much!
Wonderful and interesting composition
Reminds me of the 'Walkie Talkie' in London, which focussed sunlight on all the cars beneath!!
Best Wishes, HWW, a nice week, and stay cool!!

I heard about the frazzling effect, Peter. I have to say I haven't set foot in the City of London for many decades now and I doubt I would recognise these buildings except that of course I've seen pictures. I remember being astonished at seeing the Gherkin in the flesh as I had thought it was only a design - I had a seen a picture of it in a magazine but thought it was just a futuristic bit of impossible design. Then I saw it (possibly the last time I was in the City so 90s, I guess) and my chin hit the ground!!!
Thanks for your comments on my leaning tower, Peter!
Best wishes,
Andy.

Oh I am so pleased to hear that you are well enough to go to Madrid and walk about for 2 hours. This building is quite attractive, and it's good to see that modern buildings are being erected in cities. I see you have seen the "Shard" in London. I have yet to see it in person.

Andy Rodker club has replied to Jenny McIntyre club
Thank you, Jenny.
This isn't so modern - 1980s design but it is impressive!
I had a day of hospital appointments (tests, that sort of thing) and I can get into Madrid on my own now.
Actually I have never seen the Shard! I saw the Gherkin when it was built and that was the last time I set foot in the City so it nust have been somewhere in the late 90s I would guess.
Hope you've been OK in the heatwave!
Best wishes,
Andy
