this photo by John FitzGerald

Queen Street West, Toronto.

Not inspired (as far as I know) by Paul Strand's famous photo of Wall Street, but obviously reminiscent of it. Maybe my unconscious remembered it.

Berny, Denis Croissant, Will S., Sami Serola (inactive) and 19 other people have particularly liked this photo

The bronze light struck me first, the solid, arched architecture second, then the two determined walkers approaching each other, third. I had to wonder, do they sail past, noses in the air, or instinctively slow down just a bit, and smile as they pass? There's something Rembrandt about this.

This is Toronto, Bob. Everybody's got business to be about.

A few years ago I read an article in which people had been interviewed about the difference between life in Calgary and Toronto. Several people talked about how the pace of life was slower in Calgary. I was puzzled because they seemed to be implying that that made life in Calgary better.

Very striking photo; nicely exposed and composed! I like the juxtaposing of the static (nearly) symmetrical building and the dynamic scurrying people.
