A city scene that looks familiar and foreign at the same time. I like your yellow traffic lights. Much more cheerful than our black ones.

Yellow traffic lights are much more visible, too, Jean. They also provide the effect of a proscenium at each intersection.

A windy day? I like the people, coming and going, doing their thing. And it's like you have two panels making up the photo, as the near building's edge defines them. Very effective cityscape.

Thanks, Bob. I hadn't thought about it having two panels, but now that you've mentioned it I may try to get the effect elsewhere. Thanks. And you got me thinking about how differently dressed the passersby would have been back in 1949, when the Bank of Nova Scotia went up.

Love all the lines, especially the telecomm wires and their shadows; not usually fond of them, but here, they make a good contrast to the right-angled architecture.

Thanks, Sarah. You may also have explained my love of overhead wires in Toronto. Toronto buildings, especially downtown, are pretty boxy, and the wires are a relief.

A good spot where I habe been many times to photograph sexy Ladies !

And a good spot it is to do that, too, Léopold. A former boss of mine believed that feminine beauty declined the farther you were from King and Bay. I'm no judge of male looks, but there are a lot of slim well-dressed young men down there, too. I think all the banks down there want attractive staff in their headquarters. Another reason to switch to a credit union, I suppose.

I find myself drawn to the overhead lines and their shadows..............they contrast nicely with the upright buildings and traffic light posts. I'm also trying to work out if that tram (or is it a bus?) has been converted to sell snacks etc, or whether it's just a happy accident that it's stopped next to a snack bar?

An absorbing shot John!

Thanks, Keith. That is in fact a tram. Unfortunately, the transit commission does not provide meal service. There are obviously problems having food service on the cars, but at heavily-used stops like this one they could have a food cart. Bathurst subway station has a bakery that sells good beef patties, which is often a godsend in winter if you have to wait outside for a land route.

A fine study in lines and angles, with the tram providing a splash of colour.

Thanks, Diane. This is an atypical group for the neighbourhood. Most of the people here are in the financial industry (the four corners of this intersection have the world headquarters of four major banks, including TD, which is well established in the States, I think). So the streets are full of well-dressed women and men in well-cut suits, including a group that fascinates me, middle-aged white men with the closest shaves imaginable. They must have their faces waxed or something.
