Full Circle (2002)

Full Circle (2002)
By Peter von Tiesenhausen, at the corner of Queen and Victoria Streets in Toronto. Both streets are named for Queen Victoria. Two days ago we got a day off for her birthday. Canada ♥ VR.

Here's a link to an interesting story about the sculptor:

Ruebenkraut, Sarah P., Malik Raoulda, kiiti and 8 other people have particularly liked this photo

OH I like that a lot. Lucky you getting a day off. Maybe you should have had two days off.

Thanks, Jean. Australians shoukd probably get the most days off -- they named a whole state after Victoria. We have a province named after her daughter, but that's not quite the same thing. The capital of British Columbia is also named after Victoria, as well as about half the hospitals in the country.

I suspect I'd like those sculpture quite a lot. I hope your link shows them more conventually, though I see what you didn't - the color scheme and the wooden group looking up at the building work well.

Thanks, Bob. I took some from what I think is a better POV, but couldn't manage to capture them without the tree appearing to grow out of one of their heads.

Thanks, William. As I mentioned to Bob, I found what I thought was a better one but no matter how I fiddled with it the tree alsways seemed to be growing out of one of their heads.

They're especially interesting during the winter, Diana, where they keep guard patently with snow on their heads.

I quite like anonymous, faceless statues.............although I find them a bit menacing!

I though these figures were made of wood, but after a bit of research I've discovered they're made of solid iron using melted Ford engine blocks. Recycling at it's best..!!

A fascinating shot John and a great story in the link! Thanks for sharing!

Close up I took them for bronze, Keith, so that's a revelation to me, too. Thanks.
