Surreal. Not Toronto, I presume?

London, Ontario. It incorporates a large area of open land, thanks to a decision the provincial government made years ago to give it more land than it had applied to annex.

Looks like the cover of a book, perhaps, about a loner on a lone road ... (there I go, romanticizing again.) But definitely a dreamlike quality with the turquoise color on those clouds.

Big, big sky!

This was taken in a very flat part of the country, Lutz. As you near London (Ontario) on the way from Toronto the rolling countryside suddenly becomes flat. Like East Anglia, but with silos replacing medieval church towers.

Beautifully composed. Lovely cool blue colour.

Thanks, Jean. I may actually still have been using daylight white balance back in 2012.

I see from the EXIF that I had white balance on auto. Haven't done that for a long time. Maybe I should go back to it.

Ah, work from your Blue Period! I like what the processing does to the sky.

Thanks, Bob. A wide range of effects can be got out of that sky. Maybe a conceptual piece is in order.

Perfectly composed so that that fantastic sky dominates the image! I like the placement of the truck - framed within the lamp-posts. Your auto white balance has done a great job too John.

That's a very quiet and wide road................or have you accidently wandered on to an airstrip!

Thanks very much, Keith. This neighbourhood was being developed; I think this road was intended to supply an industrial park, which wasn't there yet.

Stunning! The wide, wide sky and the wide, wide street are impressive. Everything seems possible.

Thanks, Diane. I grew up here but after 50 years of living in Toronto I find the sky disconcerting. To see the sky in Toronto you have to look up.

Travelling from Toronto you do get the impression that everything is possible in this region. Lots of prosperous farms and towns on the way.

Yes, and after you look up, you can't really see more than a few feet of it! This area must contribute enormous amounts of food to the country.

Very much a picture that takes you to the 'time and place' - even though as with all photographs the place has been snatched out of time!

Thanks, John. You have, I think, expressed what I was after when I could not express it myself. I will mull this over.
