  • Can't upload my pictures!!!

    - 08 Dec 2020 - 12 comments
Hiya folks, well I was going to show you more of my pendants and keyrings that I've been making, along with some snowflake designs, which I thought I'd give as extra pressies for them to hang on their Christmas tree. So you'll just have to wait with bated breath until Ipernity allows me to upload my pics. It's been really cold lately, with temperatures dropping to zero!!!! Now I don't have any central heating, so it does feel very chilly. No problem - a radiator and a halogen heater and a co…

Hiya folks, Sorry I haven't been writing much here, but with this lockdown going on - I'm not going out much neither!!!! So I've been making resin pendants to give to people for Christmas and then I have to make some things for the men in the group who have helped me - they won't be wearing pendants will they? LOL - maybe some paper weights or key rings - have to think about that!! I made these today - I quite like the colours here. Mandi has asked me to do her colours like this, a…

  • We had a large amount of hail, day before yesterday!!!

Piling up against the watering can
I was so aware of the hail because it made such a noise against the window and then I heard them coming down the chimney!!!! It had to be a heavy one then!! Anyway the next day (yesterday) I went out into the area by the kitchen, and I was so surprised at the amount of hail still showing. It had been about 9 hours since it came down, but if that didn't convince me that it was cold - what else could? This is quite a big amount which must have completely covered the watering can, because i…

    Fluff and her 4 children
Mandi's latest brood of kittens are starting to make themselves known and have decided that they prefer the lounge and also they have grabbed Mandi's part of the couch for their own!!!! Mandi took these pictures to show mum, Fluff, making the kittens at home on Mandi's jumper on the couch...... So Mandi is now all squashed up on the part of the couch that's vacant. Dogan has his own part of the couch, and he manages to have it all to himself, until he went to sleep!!!.. One of t…

  • Mandi and family are okay!!!!

    - 30 Oct 2020 - 10 comments
Just a quickie, in case you had heard of that awful earthquake in Turkey today. Luckily it didn't affect Mandi too much. She told me that the electric was the first to go, then without much time, she suddenly was thrown around her room. Luckily she was close to the tv, which had suddenly started to wobble!!!!, so she grabbed it to prevent it from falling over. Dogan rushed home to check she was okay. Although Izmir is about 2 hours away from them, they are on the same fault-line, so feel i…

  • My newest enjoyment with craftwork

    - 28 Oct 2020 - 12 comments
Maybe there are too many items in it
I had a sort of lapse in my latest craze - I really enjoyed at my first attempt at using epoxy resin. I made some items to put on a chain, but I wasn't completely pleased with the result, so I ordered some better moulds and also some dried flowers etc. As I'd already started making jewellry, I had lots of small items to put in the resin - like tiny beads, sequins etc. I'd also got some dye for the resin. Until I'd got my newer moulds and I watched several tutorials on YouTube for making resin mo…

  • I've been out!!!!!!!!!!!

    Looking towards the beach
My gorgeous new friend, Emily, came today as usual and she said that as the weather was good - did I fancy a quick trip to the seaside!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe what she was saying - she said that she realised how much I was missing the sea, and was happy to take me out for a quick trip. WELL !!!!!!!!!!!!! how could I say no? Apart from the fact that I'm still having problems breathing - the trip out was too strong a pull. So we quickly got ready and drove out to Westward Ho!. I expected…

Dawn creeping over the mountains in Yashi
I'm so sorry that I've been sort of absent for about 3 weeks now, but things have been more than quiet around my home. We have had some good weather and today the weather gods have decided to remind us that we are coming into the Autumn (Fall to you Americans), and from yesterday's temperatures of 25C ( 77F) to today's 14C (57F). Yesterday I was wearing a sleeveless dress and today I've got long sleeved blouse and am now wearing a cardigan over it!!!! What on earth is going on? We also got our f…

  • The Japanese anemone is taking over the garden now!!!!

There is a huge amount of anemones
I'm sorry folks that I haven't written much lately, but every day seems to be the same to me. I can't believe it that it's over seven months since I last left this house!!!! I'm not trying to win a contest on who can stay indoors for the longest time, but I can't geet out of the house without a car and my car has given up the ghost - last year!!! Of course I can't get someone to take me places, because the social distance can't be kept in a car!!!! I watch the live web-cam on Westward Ho! so at…

  • Yep the thunder DID go somewhere else!!!!

    - 19 Aug 2020 - 8 comments
I was shocked when I read in the on-line local paper, that a town about 9 miles from me had been completely flooded out!!! Seeing the streets and roads completely awash, shops being swept out with the water, goods for sale were totally ruined, cars had been left in the middle of the roads, completely useless in water that was half way up the doors!!! Whilst the poor people of the town were trying to save their personal possessions etc from the flood, we were enjoying sunshine. I looked on the li…

Hiya folks, sorry I haven't written a blog for a while, but to be honest - my life is so much the same every day, I haven't had anything to write about. At least Mickey can write about his gardening, but I don't have even that!!! The last few days have been wonderfully sunny, but very very humid. Well today we had really big rolls of thunder, and so I had to semi-close my windows, but the rain didn't come and the thunder has moved away - but leaving the humidity with us!!! The mombretia i…

  • Yesterday was glorious

    Such a stately flower
Yep we did have one good day this weekend, yesterday!!! It was lovely and sunny, even warm enough for me to have the window open for most of the day!!! Such a contrast to today though. Rain, all grey cloud cover, cold wind - no windows open neither!!! Back to yesterday - I wandered around the house into the garden. When I went around the front of the house, I noticed how much purple loosestrife there was. The flower was everywhere making this rough patch look so beautiful.......…

  • To all my friends celebrating today!!!

    Happy 4th July
I have a feeling that today won't go down as a good time to celebrate, but for those of you who feel up to it - a very happy 4th July. I don't know about you all, but here in my part of the UK, the weather has changed from lovely and warm to horrible and cold! It's the beginning of July and it feels like March! The sky is all one colour - sort of pale grey, there is a wind, that blusters every now and then, it's not warm enough to have any window open, and to have the back door open - it's o…

The purple loosestrife is a very elegant flower
Hiya folks, just thought I'd check in here, well we've had really weird weather lately. First of all, we have a very warm and sunny May, then we had a wet June (or should I say - still having!!) yet up until last week, I was always having to wear a cardigan in the evenings to stay warm!!!! In June too!!!! Well last week, we were warned about the heat coming for a quick visit and it WAS quick in a way, to us down in this part of the country, we had very warm weather (hot was the real word for…

  • The cherries are ripening.......

    These cherries are almost ripe
I noticed the cherries are almost ripe and the birds are going to have a wonderful feast. Unfortunately for me - they are about 25 feet off the ground!!!! There are no cherries at a lower branch. So I thoroughly enjoyed the cherry blossom earlier on in the year, now I am looking at the fruit and I can't do anything but look!!!!! LOL I don't remember seeing so many cherries up there before - in fact this year has been a bumper crop of everything. Do you think it might be because…

  • A break in the sunny days - great for the garden though!!!!

You can just make out the tiny apples starting to grow
This is just a quickie, I realised that I hadn't written for some time - so I apologise (or do I gain thanks for being quiet!!!?) We have had a glorious May - I think we had mostly warm sunny days, with bright blue skies most days, so it was quite a shock (not an unpleasant one) yesterday, when I woke up to a wet cat wanting to be dried off!!!. We had had some rain, which was really welcomed, my grass - or should I say "straw" - was very happy to be wet again. Well we didn't have a great amou…

  • A walk around the garden at last....

    - 21 May 2020 - 14 comments
    The top garden
Lately I've been having problems walking and so I tend to stay indoors most of the time. However it was such a glorious day, Wednesday (yesterday) that I just had to go and get around the garden. As I have donated most of my garden to wildlife (!!!!) I can only get to the top part of the garden with the grass and the blossom trees. The garden is in 4 layers, which means it's a total no-go area down there, even if it wasn't covered with weeds and wild plants!!!! - I can't walk downhill like that.…
