User Poll Update ...

User Poll Update ...
Since publishing the initial results of the User Poll I’ve been running online another 25 votes have been cast so I thought it may be useful to publish an updated set of results for those that are interested.

In total, 207 people (189 of them Club members and 18 free users) have now participated in the poll up to the point at which time these updated results were compiled earlier today.

These then are the latest set of figures based on all 207 votes.

When asked how much they would be willing to pay to subscribe to ipernity each year to help secure the site's long-term future, 6% said £00.00; 9% (+1%) said £25.00; 37% said £50.00; 31% (-1%) said £75.00; 13% (-1%) said £100.00; 4% (+1%) said £125.00; and 0% said £200.00.

Interestingly, this suggests that 48% (-1%) of respondents would be willing to pay £75.00 or more per annum, which is more than 3 times the current subscription rate of £19.99.

Next, when asked if they would be willing to make a one-off payment to a crisis-fund were such an initiative to be launched to help save the site, 49% (+2%) said "Yes"; 19% (-1%) said "No"; and 32% (-1%) said "Maybe".

This suggests that 81% (+1%) of respondents would support or at least be open to the possibility of supporting such an initiative - although it’s important to keep in mind the fact that many did say they would be reluctant to make such payments to the existing owners without significant assurances over the future of the site.

Thanks one again to everyone for their support and please note that I am copying these updated results to Christophe directly so that Team Ipernity can study them.

As before, if I hear anything back that I can share with the wider community then I will obviously do so at the earliest opportunity.

Best wishes

PAUL

Thank you, Paul, for your efforts. Although my primary photo stream in on Flickr, I use ipernity as a backup, and I would be willing to pay a larger annual fee as well as a small donation to keep it going. Thanks, again.

Thank you for the update, Paul. I hope the fate of ipernity is determined soon; I feel like it is dying a slow death right now as people spend more time on other sites they chose to set up shop in. :-(

Its nice there are people here who are willing to do something.
Now what we need is minimum one year more from Ipernity and in this time flickr will go down, then we will have job to do,to go there and bring people here,50 or 100 people behind screen can do a lot on flickr forums.

Thanks to everyone who has participated in this poll. I think the results have been interesting, but I fear they may make little difference with regards what happens next.

For the moment though my sincere thanks and best wishes for Christmas and the New Year ... here's hoping we are all still here this time next year! :)

Yes, it is a shame Helena, but you can only lead a horse to water ... you can't make it drink. Besides, such an exercise would have been best undertaken by Team Ipernity to get maximum feedback, but I think it was still an interesting exercise at the time :)

I would support paying double the current annual subscription fee but not more as the currency exchange rate of around 60 to 70 cents Australian Dollar to the Euro/GBP/USD would make it too expensive i.e. 30% to 40% more expensive for me than for someone in Europe paying in Euro.

A tiered fee structure is perhaps a good idea based on individual upload/storage use. For example I only have two hundred pictures on Ipernity and certainly do not use Ipernity as a "free cloud storage" facility.

Just been posted by William Sutherland in the Ipernity Members Association Project group here on ipernity:

Good morning/afternoon,

We are still in discussions with Ipernity S.A. re: the future of this site and its transfer. Negotiations are ongoing to protect the best interests of the members. At the same time we are investigating crowdfunding options so we can take the next step when negotiations are concluded.
