Thank you, Ronald and sorry to have confused you. It's a shot from high summer!
My Fuji Finepix 100 pocket digital has always been 15 or so months out with the date! Experts haven't been able to sort it out so I just have to accept it!

Now, I don't know what I was thinking. The date says August, but the vegetation doesn't look to me like high summer.

A beautiful little pony, Andy. Do these ponies have owners or are they wild?
Andy Rodker club has replied to Betty JW
A bit of both, Betty. I think they are 'managed' by English Heritage which I presume is a publicly funded quango, but I'm out of touch with these things in the UK as I live in Spain (and these things seem to change all the time).
They roam freely within a gated area. Every so often, they are picked up and transferred to another site in Cornwall so that their lawnmower skills can be put to use!! I only know this as a fact because I saw them rounded up at Godrevy one time and on my next walk saw my friends happily munching away above Ralph's Cupboard again and they don't move quickly enough to have gotten there under there own steam!

This pony is two ponies, isn't it?
I mean to see a bit of a back and the beginning of a bottom behind that fair one. But where is the rest? Stands it really so simultanous, that it is covered completely by the front one?
Beautiful capture by the way.

HA!!!
By there hangs a tale, Leon.
When I posted this on Pano many years ago, I had forgotten that I was convinced that I saw 2 ponies when taking the shot. I then forgot all about it until AFTER it had been on Pano for a few months when I suddenly saw what looked like a second back and I half-remembered seeing 2! I mentioned this on Pano and a lively debate ensued. Most people insisted that I was mad to see 2 ponies but I still suspect that you and I are correct and that the first pony almost (but the word is 'almost') obscures the other. One factor against our theory is that the second seems to throw no shadow and also that these ponies do have an indentation running down their backs - but in our favour, not that deep! Also in our favour is the fact that the colour is different.
I have thrown this open to ipernity members, by altering the notes and adding it to the Puzzle Group!!!!
Very well seen, Leon!!!

Love these ponies Andy and I feel as though there are two ponies in this shot. Like the others, I see the curve of two backs and perhaps two tails (?). When all is said and done it is still a mystery! :)

Andy Rodker club has replied to Clickity Click
Thank you Chris! On Pano the response was that 9 out of 10 said it was only one pony. I see their point but I think there are two!

I think it's two, but if proof were given that it is definitely one, then I would accept it gracefully!
I wish my memory were beter . I wish I could say: 'This looks like one pony, but I know it is two'. Alas! I can't, because my memory is faulty!

I have quite a few shots of deer Andy where the one in the foreground almost completely obscures the one immediately behind it, but there is always some clue. The legs will never completely been aligned, the head and neck also. The dip in the back that suggests two is just a dip in one poniy's back not two.

Lastly the shadow is just of one pony, in my humble opinion.

All that really matters though is it is a beautiful beast
