Actually, the colors and textures in an everyday thing like this are worth noting, but we usually don't.

An up to date version of the Turin shroud.

An interesting point, Jean. I read an article once about researchers working on the Turin shroud; they all seemed, regardless of how religious or skeptical they were, to have found what they wanted to find. Similarly, I took this as a tribute to/comment about Stephen Shore's American Surfaces, but then decided to crop it so I could demystify/make fun of a common artistic theme. All part of fun with photos.

It’s amazing the way a French title elevates the most quotidian image. The colours are like the land and sea at St. Ives..

I suspect "Après le bain" also served in the 19th and early 20th centuries as a way of legitimating paintings of nude women.

I've never been to St. Ives, but the images I googled and the trip I took through it on Google Street View showed me what you meant. Is it really as sunny there as the photos suggest?
