La Sierra de La Cabrera
The eastern end, including El Pico de La Miel (Honey Peak) which isn't the highest point on the ridge but is the most famous as it rises directly above the Madrid Burgos motorway. It's possible to scramble and rock-hop more or less along the entire ridge.

At one time, exactly 10 years ago I was walking along here twice a week and I was fit! I hope to get back there some time but who knows? I had a car in those days and public transport isn't easy even though it's only 20 miles away. It means going in the opposite direction to Madrid and then out again and it's expensive to do that as well as time consuming as the journey length on the buses is more like 50 miles and three hours at least each way. no time left for a walk in winter light and precious little for a decent walk even in summer. When I lived in the middle of Madrid it would be 1.5 hours on the bus each way but working at weekends and more recently, health and Covid restrictions have stopped me.
By the way, it's a reservoir you can see there!
Andy Rodker club has replied to José Manuel Polo clubAndy Rodker club has replied to John FitzGerald clubSadly, Madrid pollution comes out this far and it's very rare to get a pristine long-distance shot. I read a book where an old-timer explained that it used to possible to see the buildings in Madrid with great clarity. Now, you would be lucky to locate the city at all! I attach here a vulture shot taken on a day when you clould see vast distances but these are great rarities. I've yet to see a clear view of the city from here.
