Mountain stream. Sierra de La Cabrera

Mountain stream. Sierra de La Cabrera
A storm overnight and the almost dry stream-bed comes to life.
The tower was a mystery to me when I first saw it in 2010 and is still a mystery. I can't get any info (certainly not much sense!) out of the older guys in the local bars, no matter how much Mahou I bribe them with!! I will have to try whisky next time!

Henk Bouwers, Fred Fouarge, Diane Putnam, Nadia Kushnir and 29 other people have particularly liked this photo

What a charming image - and the tower in the mid ground gives it a bit of mystery too

Thank you, Judith.
I have never found out what the tower is. It is probably a pumping engine house to drain the tunnels below in respect of the railway line that passes a long way beneath here. But I don't know. I have asked the old guys in the bars at Valdemanco but probably my Spanglish has left them baffled! and I don't get anywhere!

Pumping station.....funny, my first thought was that this was one of your Cornwall shots! (Till I looked more closely)

Well, the truth is, both places abound in granite! I reckon I'm lucky. I live in Madrid, within a close bus ride of some spectacular mountains (great walking territory!), and when I go home to Cornwall (admittedly not often enough), there again I am surrounded by terrific scenery!. Not bad!

Andy Rodker has replied to S Drury
Hi Steve, thank you.
Unfortunately, I walked past here a couple of weeks ago to find half of the tower fallen away and the rest won't survive the next storm spate, I'm sure.
But thank you and best wishes,
Have a good week,
Andy

Looks a superb area to walk in Andy, with some variety in the walks I would imagine!!!

Andy Rodker has replied to Buck Ejitt
Your choice, Buck - a walk to get fit, useful therapy for the beers and city life, or a gentle stroll to admire the scenery.
I like to combine the two! ... and take the odd pic when I need a pause to take a breath!

A beautiful waterfall, good flow very successful
What a fright I have given, because I do not look at the date, they tell me that there is a lot of heat in Madrid, since soon I will be in those homes, by the way, a beautiful photo, I like it, thank you for your visit; But the photos I climb small, there hang one of the moon over Manhattan, I hope the heat goes, over there;
I will meet in Madrid with the old friends of Panoramio; Greetings, Happy Summer 2017,

Andy Rodker has replied to xacobeo4
It's a little early for the temperature to reach 40c, Rebeca - normally not until July. Yes I hope it goes down a bit soon!
Who are you meeting here in Madrid? I knew a few Madrid photographers on Pano but I never met them in person and they all joined ipernity but gradually all leftt!!! :o(
The obvious ones I knew well on Pano were F, Campayo, Danimero, and Angel el Alfa III. There were others whose names escape for the moment, including a lady who I think was photographing every building in Madrid! You don't have to tell me of course but I would be interested if you want to send me a private message!
Best wishes,
Andy

You have the best of both worlds Andy...... & lot of your images from Madrid are like the Cornish landscape !!!

It's the granite in both that makes for a few similarities I think!

A strange tower, yes, but the composition is fabulous! Great angles and shapes.

Any such effects were purely accidental. I shot into the sun, not expecting anything worthwhile at all!
