The Guardian of the Mountains still holding firm!

The Guardian of the Mountains still holding firm!
La Sierra de La Cabrera. Cancho Largo (The Guardian of the Mountains - my name for him!) is the highest point in the Sierra de La Cabrera. The block on the horizon is Mondalindo and centre left is (still snow covered) Peñalara, the highest peak in the Sierra de Guadarrama.
There are no climbers here today. Climbing has been forbidden here during the nesting season (perigrine falcons, I think and another bird whose name I didn't catch on the notice cards - they are attached to the first fixed peg on every climbing line - because I didn't have my glasses with me, sorry).
But I was impressed; this seems to be working, so not all Spaniards kill song birds for fun and bulls for sport!.

Funny the way you decided that all those who walk this mountain are Spaniards . . . and only them would kill falcons . . . and another birds you don't remember because you lacked your glasses that day,

I've walked these mountains over 100 times and have met non-Spaniards here on only very few occasions!
I think I didn't make myself clear, José.
My point was that climbers are asked not to climb the cliffs here in the nesting season; and they don't. Of course I know that shooting songbirds is generally frowned upon today. My comment was more tongue in cheek and was aimed at the few who remain and the rather larger number who support bullfighting. My point was in PRAISE of the vast majority of Spaniards, not the small minority!

It's a magnificent view. Humans kill birds and bait bulls and bears and badgers. Spaniards don't have a monopoly. We're a funny lot. Half of us are bringing back sea eagles and hen harriers and eagles and the other half are poisoning them and that's just Scotland.

I followed the story of the re-introdction of the erne some decades ago and am always sad to see these conflict of issues stories.

Thanks Keith. I haven't really understood the camera function on my new (-ish) phone yet. I discovered a wide angle facility and tried it (this shot) and I will be maling more use of it, obviously!. It seems to create a much sharper picture too. I'm doing something wrong as too many of my shots are blurred. I need to look at this in more detail.
