Trying to make something from the dreadful sight of burnt tree trunks, I feel this ICM image captures both the event and the scene. I'd suggest viewing large on black.

Worst to see such pictures, It is only comforting to know that nature will recover from it...

I like it a lot George, I hope your ecology and people manage to recover from the nightmare of it all, its bad watching from here -never mind being there but this is a great image

What a wonderful abstract rendering on burned tree trunks, George. Looks even more interesting at full size. The inset was great as well, though what it showed filled me with sorrow. I recently walked up onto our hillside, trying to recover after a wildfire razed it to the ground a few years ago. It still wrecks me to see the dead trees everywhere. I absolutely know how you feel in this regards, it's just so sad. :(

I hope the area is making some headway on recovery.

You did well here, George. We went for a drive on Monday through the Adelaide hills to where John was firefighting just before we came to Canberra. It looked pretty sad and grim, with scattered piles of iron and charred house components about the place from some of the 87 houses that went that day.
And now there is a fire throwing embers on Tharwa.....with watch and act for areas of Tuggeranong in Canberra. What a terrible summer this is.
