A lovely image of the castle giving much greater context. I've never looked round the town, but it looks quite beautiful.

I would hazard a guess that many of the stones from the ruins, were taken by the locals back in the day to build houses and maybe the church etc........as was the custom!

You could well be right about the stone Keith. There was, and maybe still is, a quarry nearby supplying the lovely Purbeck stone, which is also used on the roofs.

Very pleased you like the church shot as well, thank you. Kept the outing quite local today, visiting two nearby mills. Have a good evening.

A lovely view of the castle across the village, it's nice to see a suitable lamppost and not some modern thing, although I would have been tempted to remove it from the photo, I have a thing about street signs and lampposts etc. you don't see the ones where I have failed miserably on composition !!
