I like these heavy beams above old fireplaces - wood touched by fire for ages and still remains ...
Try to get something like that legalized nowadays - I think even without EU standards we will only get head shaking. ;-)

Yes it still remains. Just shows how sensible people were years ago Leon ;-) My daughter has an open fireplace like this in her cottage. When they have finished renovating, I will show a picture.

Buena foto en el interior con detalle de la antigua chimenea reconvertida en alacena. La balda en madera color claro podrían “envejecerla” para que no desentone con las vigas. La foto bajo la gran carpa pincela un ambiente tranquilo. Controlar las luces ahí es complicado.

Good morning Peter. When I used to stay with my school friend in this village the building was a village store and post office. I don't remember seeing the fireplace then, so I guess it was their living room at that time. It's good weather here so far! Have a pleasant Sunday.

Clever use of space................whilst still keeping the character. I like the shapes and colours of the brickwork,.........and there's decent collection of beers there by the look of it.

Nowadays, with the threat of Covid still around, pubs with an outdoor space are very lucky. It seems like this one has made the most of it with the awnings and heating.

The awnings I have seen look very expensive but people seem to love them and I think most places will keep them. As you say, we are not over this yet!
