A pair of gems here Rosa, so well captured. The first cottage in particular with the wisteria trained out along the wall is stunning. Never seen it grown like that before.

All the best, Doug

Thank you very much Doug. It's the first time I have passed the white cottage with the wisteria flowering, so I just had to stop!

Thank you Ulrich. The three counties of Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire have a lot of thatched properties and even some new builds in villages.

Both nice but I prefer the first one because of the white cottage, they are much better trained than mine it started life on heavy duty trellis but it destroyed that !! it will be a couple of weeks before it is in flower
4 years ago.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
That is the biggest problem with them Peter and the length of time it takes to grow this big. I remember a couple of years ago, the wisteria on the white cottage was growing over the window, so it has been well pruned back.

Two cracking photo's Rosa, those Wisteria are very old, and still giving a good display....
Have I seen this cottage before, when the Wisteria was in leaf... possibly on Pano?

Best wishes, John.
4 years ago. Edited 4 years ago.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to John Goodwin
Yes that's right John, it was on Pano. This is the first time I have caught it in flower and it has been pruned back a lot. You may remember that the branches were covering two of the windows before.
Best wishes, Rosa.

Rosa, what a pretty photo! The white home and that thatched roof all made more interesting with the Wisteria covering the wall. and it appears that someone is placing "stakes" along side of the house to guide the vine along as it attaches itself..... its a lovely shot.

Have a good week , Sarah

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Sarah O' club
Hi Sarah, yes that's right. I think this wisteria had been 'let go' a little and the new owners of the cottage are doing a good job of cutting back and hopefully training it to go where they want :)
Best wishes, Rosa.

A wonderful pair of pictures Rosa. Both with stunning displays of wisteria and both beautifully compsoed and taken.

+1 for the white cottage in the main image............the cottage is full of character and the old and gnarly branches of the wisteria compliment it really well. I love the almost monochrome colour palette.

I also like the picture in the PiP. The colours in the stonework of the wall and cottage are lovely and the wisteria is beautiful, but get's a little lost in the colour scheme.

I've enjoyed looking at and comparing these............thanks for sharing.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton club
The wisteria on the white cottage has been cut back a lot Keith. The last time I passed and took a photo, it was covering most of the windows. Then I saw it for sale, so the new owners have managed it much better.

In the farmhouse picture, it was more stunning in reality than in this picture. Although I think a white thatched cottage is going to catch peoples eye more.

Many thanks for your kind comment. Always greatly appreciated.

Hi Rosa,

A wonderful picture of a wonderfully maintained house and tree!
I have wisteria growing on the front of my house too, (and it is now in flower), but not as dramatic as these. It also has to be cut back every year as it tends to creep inside the windows too!

Best wishes
Peter

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter_Private_Box club
Hi Peter,

I can well imagine that wisteria needs careful training around the windows!
When did you plant yours? Any pictures!? Thank you for your very nice comments.

Best wishes, Rosa.

Hi Rosa,

I have been having a good trawl round for pictures, but nothing exciting. Maybe I can remedy that this weekend if the sun shines! As for its age, well it was there in 1988 when I bought the house!

Best Wishes

Two terrific images Rosa. The thatched cottage is so charming and pretty and I love how the wisteria extends right across the front of the cottage and adds beauty without blocking the light. The house in the PiP is a dream too. I love the red brick work and again the wisteria adorns the front giving it a lovely 'chocolate box' pretty effect. One day - when I win the lottery..!! Lol!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Ecobird club
Thank you Carol. A couple of years ago when I photographed the white cottage, the wisteria was not in flower but the branches had grown in front of most of the windows. It has since been sold and it is good to see that the new owners have pruned it back and started training it. Ha ha, the elusive lottery.....I've given up on that one ;-)) Good luck to you though!!
