Die Berge sind einfach schön. Leider sind die Gletscher in den letzten Jahren sehr stark zurückgegangen. Das Tempo der Gletscherschmelze ist besorgniserregend.

Herzlchen Dank, Reinhard! Wohl wahr, es ist erschreckend! Der erste isländische Gletscher ist inzwischen offiziell weggeschmolzen und bei konservativer Schätzung nimmt man an, dass in 100 Jahren selbst der Vatnajökull weg ist. Die sehr viel kleineren Alpengletscher wird es viel früher erwischen:-(

The scenery is beautiful, Gudrun, but the rate of melt of the glaciers is very worrying, and we can't seem to stop it. We reacted too late I fear. I have looked at your links, and in the German one, which had the English translation available, I noticed the railway line and the viaduct. We have watched this on the TV. Remarkable.

Thanks a lot, Amelia! The Albula and Bernina Railway is one of the most spectacular lines and a great rail journey. This was my second visit and I would like to go again:-)
Yes, I fear the glaciers will soon all be gone. Greenland has had record melt this year and low lying coastal areas everywhere will run into bad trouble.

Many thanks, Keith! Composition was instinctive, I just kept hitting the shutter and sometimes the reflections from the windows weren't too bad or in a place where they could be cloned out more easily;-)
I hate trains with big panorama windows which cannot be opened, give me an old fashioned carriage any time;-)

Ja, wir sind so einiges an Bahn gefahren, speziell am Glacier-Express haben mich aber die Panoramafenster genervt, die gespiegelt haben und die man nicht aufmachen konnte...

Jetzt fällts mir wieder ein: das ist auf dem Grimselpass. Da haben sie einen Murmeltierpark, da kann man die Kerle aus nächster Nähe betrachten.

Man glaubt es nicht, aber ich war noch nie richtig auf dem Glacier-Express, ausser mal auf einer kurzen Teilstrecke zwischen Chur und St. Moritz.

Am Grimsel waren wir nicht, aber wir haben die Kerls aus der Gornergratbahn gesehen, die saßen auf den Felsen direkt daneben und haben sich nicht stören lassen:-)
Glaub mir, den Glacier-Express muss man nicht unbedingt "machen", wir sind von Zermatt nach Chur gefahren und Gletscher sieht man eh keinen einzigen mehr;-)
Im Zweifelsfall sind die "normalen" Züge auf der Strecke immer besser als diese Touristenversionen...
