Oh! Thus is a beautiful series, Gudrun. I love the touch of dark brown on the ears. The third PiP is my favourite, but all the photos are superb. Does this hare stay white all year?

Thanks a lot, Amelia! The Greenlandic ones and the ones in the high Canadian arctic stay white all year, they just have dark tips at the ears.

I just couldn't decide between the many photos I took though I did consider the 3rd PiP for the main photo;-)

In unseren Breiten würde er wohl unter Albino-Hase laufen.
Ich glaube dort wo Du ihn getroffen hast, ist das weiße Fell jedoch normal... ??

Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Ja, die haben dort ganzjährig weißes Fell. Es gibt wohl welche in Kanada, die im Sommer dunkles Fell haben, aber ganz im Norden bleiben sie auch dort weiß.

He looks just like the hare that I disturbed whilst wading through thick snows in my local hillside valleys a few years back. Unfortunately I did not have my camera to hand (but in my bag over the shoulder) and I never got it on camera. This is a fine well captured series. Very well done.

These are just wonderful Gudrun.................you were so lucky to get that close to it............and to get so many shots!

I was surprised to read that they stay white all year round...........I always thought they only turned white in the winter for camouflage!

The image in the 3rd PiP is my favourite - for some reason it looks surprised, as if it's only just notice you :-))

Thanks very much, Keith! I was quite surprised that it wasn't shy! He looked my way and then continued feeding and when he letft he went just a little way to where the grass seemed greener;-)
Obviously in the Arctic they stay white all year, only further south they are dark in summer.
