J is for Jaunty Jonquils (+ 5 more inset pictures!)
(5 more pictures above in notes! :D)

I used to think that a Jonquil was any kind of daffodil, but I found out that it's actually a specific type. In truth, "Jonquil" is an accepted term for "daffodil in some places, so I was very tempted to open my selection to every daffodil in my archives. But...no, I wanted to show a true jonquil. Narcissus jonquilla flowers are smaller in size and grow as clusters from one stem. They are also the most fragrant of all daffodils.

To my surprise, I have very few pictures of these fragrant beauties. Although we have some growing in our yard, I immediately remembered the grouping I photographed last Spring at my friend's home. The same friend who has the beautiful irises in fact! :) Weeks before, we visited to take pictures of her daffodils, and she'd picked a bunch of them for the house. I remember how wonderful these smelled!

If you would like to know more about these flowers, Wiki has a page here: Wikipedia: Jonquils

Hi Janet, dear friend, I also did not know. I knew them only as ordinary daffodils. If you translate the German name they were called "Easter Bells" :-D. The photo is quite wonderful and enchanting. I would hang it in my living room immediately. The day after tomorrow I'm going to my cousins wedding to Berlin, so I will also post my picture for J shortly. I embrace you and wish you a wonderful week.

Yet again you've done it. Gorgeous photos and the ones with the droplets on them are absolutely stunning. I didn't realise that jonquils were ones with smaller flowers, sometimes double headed and with a heavier scent. So I looked at my daffs here and I do believe that I have some here. The flowers have a definite perfume which is gorgeous and there are many which have at least two heads. They are new flowers which I planted in October.

Oooh, lovely jubbley!!! This is a wonderfully taken shot.........the light on the petals is just gorgeous and the flowers look absolutely stunning on that black background.

One of the more old fashioned meanings for the word "jaunty" is stylish........which perfectly sums up this wonderful photo.

I also thought these were daffodils and thought maybe you spelt them with a J! SO not only do I get to look at your lovely images but I get educated too! Today is a great day!

A lovely set of jonquil images, Janet. I'll show my lack of gardening knowledge and admit I didn't know they are daffodils. :) Either way, these look lovely against the dark background.
