Golden path of memories fence

As todays wind blows away many of our autumn leaves we see here a path that we strolled along just a week or so ago. This brings back special memories for me, as our old home was only about 75 meters from here, so I walked it many times through all seasons and weathers. The path dips down here and then over a small brook via a tiny clapper bridge. Another 700 meters and we arrive at the impressive ‘Tandle Hills Park’ filled with trees like this.

Wonderful autumn picture!
But what is the grid on the tree for? They are usually attached to prevent wild animals from eating the bark. But not that high. Do you have giraffes? ;-)

Thanks Poly. Very glad you liked this one. The protection on the tree, I can only guess! The field on the left is a horse farm field so has horses in. I presume they used to try and eat or scratch their heads on the bark resulting in almost killing the tree. The tree has probably grown higher since it was originally put on here. Not much different to a giraffe :)

That was a lovely place where to live. As I was a child, until 13, I too lived near meadows,forest and paths. Almost everything disappeared now, there are houses and they even took away the forest to build a railway yard that at the end gave not much work.

Hi Daniela. Yes that house was in a wonderful situation. We moved out of it 24 years ago as we had bad neighbour troubles. -It still looks the same today as it was, quite unlike your story as a child. Glad you this ayway.
