A Crummock Water trek

A Crummock Water trek
Onwards we trek along the shores of this lake. Underfoot is quite wet along this path but at some places stones and rocks make things a little easier. Here in the seepage is evidence of natural oils and mineral leakage too with the reddish pools. The interesting volcanic-like fell to our left is called 'Rannerdale Knotts'. - Our way continues perhaps for another mile before our turn-around.

Enjoy full screen.

Is this on your doorstep so to speak, Herb? If so - lucky you. We feel a tad restricted at the moment, not being able to visit Wales or even much of Shropshire.

Hi Amelia. On our doorstep? If you call 100 miles away from our home in Oldham on our doorstep of the Western Lakes, then it is :) No, we had a week's holiday in a rented cottage here in August. A trip we had booked almost 12 months ago and it was on & off a few times because of restrictions but fortunately they were lifted enough for us to take this -with care. Our 2020 Spring holiday in the Brecon Beacons has still to go ahead, now postponed till next Spring. I think we still have it worse in Oldham than your Shropshire though-at the moment. Not looking good at all. -Anyway I felt lucky to to this trip which I now am happy to share with you.

Keep safe. Herb

ps A week or so ago we had another weeks holiday on the North Yorkshire coast. Some photo's already posted here.

The landscape is stunning, it deserves a path to calmly observe and contemplate
But slippery you need to be aware!
I like very much tones and soft luminosity that allows to see the details better
The small volcano is the cherry!
Many thanks for sharing and information, Herb

Another show of appreciation for my landscapes Judite. Not a walk here for the Sunday park walkers! Some proof here of the fact that we can still take nice photos in bad weather. Very happy that you like my edit too.

Best Wishes in these worrying times. Herb

I love the threatening sky in this one Herb.........great definition in the clouds. The "volcano" looks very imposing in the background.

The steps running along the edge of the lake look man-made, but fit very nicely into the landscape. They look a bit treacherous in the wet!

A superb image...........beautifully composed and looking fresh after the rain!

Thanks Keith. The steps definitely lain by some group to stop man-made walking erosion here in this wet section. Glad you liked the 'volcano' no molten larva though. It was all a bit slippy but we fared ok.

Cheers, Herb

A beautifully captured sky Herb. The path does look rather wet. A good pair of sturdy walking boots with good grip needed, which I am sure you have as you walk a lot. Another intoxicating view of the Lake District. Cheers, Rosa.

You would love this walk Toz but much better in kinder weather. That being said - the clouds and lighting on this walk are about to improve further.

Keep safe. Herb
