We talked about growing our own vegetables the other day - well on someone's page we did, and I thought I'd show you the potatoes that are steadily growing in my pots. As you know I can't dig my garden, and I do like new potatoes, so I grow mine in pots. It was our Mickey who gave me the idea, and for the last couple of years this is what I've done. Today my neighbours, Ann & Peter, have paid for someone to come and fix up my kitchen. I was sorely missing out in storage space and they have just had a new kitchen fitted. Their old kitchen units were going to be scrapped, even though they are in good nick, but then they realised that I would probably like to have them. I decided to take a rest, my hands were starting to complain as were my arms!!! I don't kneel down as someone mentioned, I lie prone on the foam and old carpet. That way my knees are safe and I can reach quite a lot - today's patch was about 10ft x 6ft, so that's not too bad. Don't forget I am very close to the ground and I can see every bit of weed and it's roots, so everything and anything with roots gets dug up!!!! Apparently no-one could see how bad the weeds were on my driveway - Mickey says it was because I hadn't shown it in the photo. So I took another one today to show you. At this angle you can certainly see them. Please bear in mind I weed this by hand. No large hoes or anything, because I just can't do it - my back won't let me. 60 years ago we had a big day here in the UK - we had a new queen and on 4th June 1953 she was crowned. Now I was only 4 and a half, so don't remember much, but I do remember having a great time at the funfair and having a present of a Coronation coach and horses toy. This is certainly a change from what I used to write for the last couple of years - it's sunny - again!!!!! I woke up to beautiful clear blue sky and although it's still windy which is cold, it's lovely and sunny. Fred the gardener arrived at 11am and promptly started on the cutting of the ivy down from around my window. It's been another gloriously sunny day today and according to the weather forecasters we can expect this for at least another 4 days!!! If only the wind wasn't so chilly it would be absolutely fantastic. Still I did a bit of sewing and then I had no choice but to go out into that sunshine. The grass had risen about 5 inches in the week since I last did it - so the old saying "watching the grass grow" is almost true. I could smell the lilacs when I was cutting the grass and it was so wonder…

First thing this morning I buried the little baby sparrow, I felt it needed to be done as soon as possible because I didn't want it to be dug up. The sun looked as if it was trying to come out for a while, so I got a wash on. The wind was really great today - and the washing dried pretty quickly - blowing away and it's so nice getting them dried in the fresh air. Unfortunately the wind was on the cool side, so I decided to do some sewing until the afternoon. This new quilt is coming along…

My little birdie has died. I have tried so hard to look after it, but it suddenly decided to close its eyes for good. I am sorry for it, but I did do my best to keep it going. At least it died all snuggled and cuddled up in my hand.

Thank you all for your suggestions with regard to my new little "roomie"!!! Well it's favourite place is sitting on my hand with my fingers around it for comfort. It squawks away until I pick it up and cuddle it and then it goes to sleep. Yes it's eaten about 3 small worms so far and I dipped my finger in some water and let it drip into its mouth. That seemed to go okay. Am going to ring the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and they might take him in and keep him…
