    Shells in the sea
As some of you know - my daughter, Mandi, is here with me until the middle of August which is fantastic. She's been spoiling me by cooking my meals, washing up and cleaning etc. It's amazing. When Emily comes on Tuesday, I'm going to ask her if she'll take Mandi shopping. So I have almost 4 weeks of her being here and then - GUESS WHAT....................................!! I'm going back to Turkey with her for just over 4 weeks!!! I'm so proud of her travelling here all alone, considering…

    Beautiful view from bedroom window
When I woke up this morning, the sun was actually shining!!!!! It really emphasised the gorgeous laburnum tree outside my window. This was the first day of the blooms actually appearing, so hopefully this tree should look really gorgeous in a couple of days with the blooms being more prolific. This is what I woke up to today.... Although I had said that the sun was shining - it went back in again as soon as I brought out the camera!!!! There are the odd bits of blue sky now and then…

  • My music tastes are really eclectic.......

    - 28 Apr 2023 - 3 comments
I just happened to hear this song about a week ago, and I just can't get it out of my mind. Now I'm 75 and you'd think my music tastes would reflect this - wrong!!!! I absolutely adore Coldplay, Walker Brothers, and loads more - but I wouldn't have put this group on my list - until I heard this track. My son used to love them - not sure about my daughter and I do think they'd be shocked to hear that I'm raving about this track. So here is my favourite track at the moment - a new version of…

  • A completely new design....

Not finished but I do like how it's coming along.
It's not a pendant really - but I haven't decided whether this will be a necklace or a bracelet yet. You'll have gathered that it isn't finished yet..... I admit it's different, but I quite like it really.

  • A visitor to the house!!

    New visitor to the driveway
Well it's been really quiet since I lost Pippin and I do want to adopt another cat, but I need to go away to stay with Mandi and Dogan for a couple of weeks and it's just not fair to leave a new cat in a strange home completely alone for a couple of weeks. I know that my friends and neighbours would come in and feed it, but it's not the same. So I'll see about adoption maybe when I come back. Back to the reason for this blog. It was a gorgeous day outside a couple of days ago and I went outs…

As they used to say in my family ...... "Spring has sprung, the grass is risen, I wonder where that birdie is.... The bird is on the wing - don't be silly - the wing is on the bird!" Yep - I had a strange upbringing at times!!!! For some reason it came to me, when I saw the gorgeous cherry blossom. Yesterday we had horrendous weather - very strong winds, and heavy rain - Storm Noah I do believe. So imagine my delight when I woke up this morning and saw this blue sky and ch…

  • Just a few notes of the last few days.....

New shape gives a great look
Hello folks, well it's been just over a week since I last wrote to you all. I've been making new resin jewellry, as I'd got myself some new moulds. I did this because I needed to take a break from all the news about Turkey. I do have Sky tv and so I've been watching TRT World which is the Turkish News but in English!!! I have been glued to it some days because I was staggered at how many people were still being brought out alive, even after 10 days since the earthquakes. How has that been possib…

  • My daughter in Turkey.....

    - 08 Feb 2023 - 18 comments
I've had lots of enquiries regarding my daughter who lives in Turkey, about how she and her husband are since the earthquakes, so I thought I'd write a quick article to tell you all how things are. When I heard about the earthquake I was obviously very worried. I immediately called my daughter to see if she had been affected too. As she's around 1,000 kms away, she was fine. She's on a different fault line too. The only problem was that Dogan's family lives over that part of Turkey. They…

  • Hiya folks.....

    Butterflies of blue and gold
Well how is 2023 going so far? It's been quite boring for me up until now - with nothing going on (which is a good thing really). I have decided that I'm going to visit my daughter in Turkey in a couple of months. The only problem, apart from trying to find the money for the trip, is that I can't travel on my own!!! So I've sort of hinted to my son, that it would be wonderful if he could take me, and stay just a couple of days and then come back. That way he'll meet Dogan (my son-in-law) and see…

  • It's that time of year folks......

    - 30 Dec 2022 - 8 comments
    Somehow we survived 2022
Well the old year is virtually gone now - just another day and we can start praying that 2023 will be much kinder to us all than 2022 was. This time last year, we didn't know that a lovely country called Ukraine would be pulverised by Russia's troups even though the Russian soldiers had been told that it was just practice. So many young people have died - unnecessarily and for what? Now all we have to do is to hope that 2023 will be a quieter and more peaceful year than the one w…

  • Happy Christmas everyone....

    - 24 Dec 2022 - 6 comments
    Have a wonderful Christmas everyone.
May I please wish all my friends on here (or everyone really) a very merry Christmas. Let's be honest, after the year we've all had, we really need to have at least one day where we can relax and have fun. If you are on your own - try and enjoy the day - eat what you want, play any music that you want, in fact do anything that you want - no-one is there to object!!!! I'll be on my own, and will eat when I want to and do what I want to.

  • Okay folks - things have been up and down!!!

A little black cat goes a'walking
Hiya folks, remember me mentioning the situation I had in my last blog about the electricity going off - twice? Well when I attempted to get myself up on the bottom rung of the steps so I wouldn't have to disturb Peter again, I felt myself going, so I grabbed onto the kitchen sink and it appeared to slip!!! I realised it was probably not a good thing to do, but I eventually called Peter, because I needed help again. When he came round, I apologised again and explained that I had tried to cl…

Snow on the coal bunker 10/12/22
Well hello folks, I do hope you are all well and coping with this sudden influx of bl**dy cold weather!!! We had our first snow this morning..... I know the weathermen had threatened us with snow etc even for the South West, but they were actually right for a change. The snow had just finished here this morning - again it's supposed to come back tomorrow - but we'll see if they're right this time too!! I am having trouble with my electrics - or so it appears. I had to call my neighbour t…

  • Wow - it's going to be a cold winter methinks

A completely new frame, with pink flowers
Well the situation with the roof and ceiling has certainly pulled me down a bit. I have noticed that nowadays certain situations are quite overwhelming for me. I had been warned about this from the doctors, but until now things were ticking along okay. I used to cope with all the situations like this with no problem nor worries, but NOW..... apparently this is because my brain has been re-wired differently from my brain haemorrhage and stroke, so I mustn't complain - just think of the alternativ…

Curling leaves as they dry up
The temperatures have really dropped these last couple of days. It's already 7C and it's not 8pm yet. By the middle of the night, I just don't know what it'll be. I'm trying to save on electricity, but not to the point that I'm freezing. As you know my house has high rooms but no central heating!! So my faithful Halogen heaters are facing me and I'm warming up. I do hope you all here aren't freezing too much. The weather though has been very kind to us down here in the South West, these pa…

  • Sewing a baby seal for the new addition....

First picture of the little seal
My neighbours' have a new addition to their family - a lovely little girl called Merryn. I'm so grateful for all the help they give me, that I wanted to give them something for their granddaughter. I haven't made any soft toys for over a year, and I soon remembered what to do!!! I thought that the little seal was a perfect size for a baby, and I do hope she likes it. I made a little shawl or cape for it - so it keeps warm!!! - I feel it should be enough. I must admit I've not…

    View across the dividing fence
A friend of mine said that she loved to see the plants in my home and around the garden. Well there's not much colour in my garden - and the mombretia didn't even flower this year because of the drought, so I just took some pictures of the view over the fence into my neighbours' garden!!!! Their apple tree has been so prolific this year - Ann very kindly popped some over to me to make apple crumbles - but there are absolutely loads still on the tree.... They also have this incredible t…
