A lovely old house and you have captured it in beautiful light Rosa. I like the title - from the dogs is always preferable to going to the dogs!!! (Greyhound racing is where that saying originated I understand so fitting that the gateposts used to have greyhounds as a feature) I imagine locals miss seeing them on the gateposts though

Thank you Carol. I have lived in or near Wincanton for 40 years and don't remember ever seeing the dogs. It would be lovely if the owner restored them. It's good to know the origins of sayings that we often use :-)
