A classic English landscape...............I love the "patchwork quilt" of fields which look wonderful in the sunlight and the gorgeous golden grasses in the foreground.

Beautifully composed and taken and worth viewing large on black for best effect!

I love your framing with the yellow grasses Roger. A superb view from up there and a good note informing us of the mouth of the River Parrett. As Keith says, and I agree, a classic English landscape.

Une vue d'ensemble extraordinaire, on imagine la lumière qui se joue de l'ombre au travers des nuages et qui illumine les parcelles tour à tour, c'est juste sublime !

Was Walford's Gibbet really a hanging place?

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Deborah Lundbech club
Lovely comments Deborah, thank you,
Indeed, it was Walford was sentenced to hang from this spot for 100 days, I have a link, although it is a little messy it tells the gory story.

Woah, what a story! Jane certainly got short shrift in the press, didn't she? Poor woman.
At any rate, Walford's last view was a beautiful one.

I love this. Surprised not to have seen it before. It's my kind of shot.
If I had a reason to acknowledge the Somerset Levels, I'd want something like this as a huge picture hanging in, say, a dining room. Mind you, on the basis that without King Alfred's fight back against the Vikings on very long odds from his refuge here at Athelney,, we'd all be speaking Danish, that would be reason enough!
