prachtige opname van whitby rosa--toen ik bij panoramio was had ik vaak contact met ieumand die daar woonde bij zijn oude moeder van 90 plus ,,toen zijn moeder overleed weet ik alleen dat hij naar de philipijnen gegaan was met veel geld wat de moeder hem nagelaten had en de woning(misschien een van deze woningen? ) sinds ik bij ipernity ben heb ik niks meer van hem gehoord...

Thank you Herb. It's a view I have seen many times on Panoramio and Ipernity, and now I have had the opportunity to take the view in myself. It was the only day we had a bit of cloud, but that worked quite well with what is at the top of the steps....photos to follow shortly :-) I am very pleased it wasn't the Goth weekend while we were there.

Two fabulous photos! Did you walk up or down or both? When I walked the steps I made use of the opportunity to admire the view (and catch my breath;-)

Thank you Gudrun. I walked up and stayed there taking in the views and buildings and walked further on where there was a brewery with a cafe, so a nice cup of tea before making the walk back down :-)

A fine pair of pictures from my favourite town in Yorkshire. You have captured the view from the steps very nicely indeed. I like the warmth of the colours and the slight shadows on the steps, well done Rosa.

Thank you very much Doug. Although I have visited Yorkshire a few times, this was my first visit to the coast and I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the famous sights of Whitby. I actually enjoyed climbing the steps, it was coming back down that was a little difficult I found. Maybe i was that stop at the brewery just past the abbey ;-))

Like. you I've seen lots of images on here and on TV from this place, but unlike you, I've never made it there. So I'll have to explore it vicariously through your photos.

I love these two photos.............the view from up there looks fantastic and I'm glad you had decent weather for the photos and the walk up and down the steps (that's impressive on it's own).

A beautiful sky, lovely light and lots of colourful houses..........all beautifully captured. The pier looks amazing. I like the wear in the steps, I wonder how many people have walked up and down them, and what stories they could tell.

I'd have loved to have been there during the Goth weekend........such a great street photography opportunity!

I'm assuming you'll be posting some shots of the Abbey ruins in due course?

So sorry Keith, I missed your comment yesterday. Yes, it's good to actually see a location that has been on TV and especially on Ipernity many times. I thought I would never get the chance to visit Whitby, being so far away, but I was wrong!!

Thank you very much for your kind comments, which of course, are always appreciated. It would be a huge book if everyone who had trod the steps could tell their stories! Mine would be quite boring....I just enjoyed it :-)

The Goth weekend would have been OK if I had been there for longer, but it was busy on this Sunday, so goodness knows what it would be like then! I have seen pictures and the costumes are amazing and the women look beautiful, if a bit revealing! I love the purples and blacks that they wear.

An iconic view of Whitby. We went there 3 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and particularly the puffins at Bempton.

Las pendientes son típicas en muchos puertos, de ahí tanta escalera, en este caso muy amplias y con marcado desgaste en sus peldaños por el uso durante tantos años. En la foto del muelle del Oeste, me gusta como se ven a las personas, de tan lejos. El horizonte marino está nítido y en el cielo las nubes ponen su nota.
