Pickering Railway Station

Pickering Railway Station
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a heritage railway that runs through the North York Moors National Park. The main picture and first PiP are of Pickering Railway Station and the third and fourth show Gosmont Railway Station. It runs on to Whitby but we got off at Grosmont.

A delightful series Rosa. I love these wonderfully old fashioned but beautifully looked after stations...........so much character, unlike the soulless places we normally see.

Each image is nicely sharp and detailed with lots to look at and enjoy.........and such glorious weather too. Thanks for sharing.

A really fine collection of nicely composed shots of the buildings, bridges and other infrastructure of the NYMR Rosa. I think the are just as interesting as the locomotives and carriages etc. The one of Pickering station has a wonderful perspective and nice light from the glass roof. The shot of the bridge is very nicely framed by the roof structure, and the people on the bridge give a good sense of the scale. I love the two views of Grosmont station especially the one with the people crossing the lines guarded by the old style gates. Hope you enjoy the journey through the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire Moors.

Enjoy your evening, Doug

I agree with you about the stations being just as interesting as the locomotives Doug. They keep that nostalgic feeling going and add so much to the experience. I loved Grosmont station and the surrounding area, and the stunning landscape was the icing on the cake!

Have a good evening Doug.

So lively and colourful, your photos immerse us in the atmosphere of this traditional railway with its fortunately preserved charm of yesteryear. Your delightful photos of Gosmont station evoke that unique (and for me indefinable;) appeal of the typical English village, a mixture of, among other things, a discreet elegance tinged with a hint of austerity - induced by the brickwork no doubt...
A very nice perspective on your main photo and some lovely paintings on your PiPs, Rosa. Thanks for the immersion!
Have a great week dear friend!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Eric Desjours club
They have a high nostalgia quota Eric :-) Thank you very much for your kind and generous comments. I find it interesting to see the different colour stone buildings around the country. I even noticed the difference in soil colour to down here in the west country.
Many thanks dear Eric and wish you a happy Wednesday.

Hi Rosa,
It is nice to see a slightly different perspective, the station architecture. If you are travelling on one of the few trains of the day, then the options of photographing it are limited!
I do have a 'Yorkshire' album www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/album/1063728 but it is a whole mix of things, mostly railways though!

Best Wishes and keep safe!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Jocelyne Villoing club
Thank you dear Jocelyne. I think it is mostly due to the hard working volunteers that the heritage lines are so popular and well kept. I hope they continue for a long time :)

Love all of this, Rosa. The main photos shows superb lead-in lines, and the PiPs are great too. I particularly like the one with the closed level; crossing gates and the tantalising view going up the street.

Thank you very much Amelia. I wish I had more time in Pickering, as the town looked really nice but Grosmont had a beautiful station and nice streets to explore.

Saludos Rosa
18 months ago.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to José Manuel Polo club
The railway tracks go across the road, so the gates close when their is no engine travelling along the tracks, and when there is the bells sound and the gates are opened so that no one, or no vehicles can cross the road until the train is on its way. Thank you for your interest and I hope this answers you sufficiently. Good evening Jose Manuel.
