A very beautiful building and a very skilfully carved totem pole, Rosa.

I saw Castlecary and Sherborne on the telly the other day.

Cheers,

Joe

Thank you very much Joe. I doubt if many people find the totem pole, but it is very well carved. I have seen Sherborne on the telly a few times on Flog it! as they are often at the auction house there, but I haven't seen Castle Cary on TV before. Were they both on the same programme?
Cheers, Rosa.

Thank you for the link Joe. I have been to the Sherborne and Somerton shops many times, but didn't know about the Castle Cary one. Must check it out sometime. Cheers, Rosa.

We have a Castlecary in Scotland. I think it's near Cumbernauld.

Thank you very much Peter. There are two of the twisted trees in the grounds. I picked the right day for my visit, as it has not been very good weather since Wednesday! Looking quite good tonight though. Hope you're having a good weekend.

Hi Rosa
A very impressive building!!
An even more impressive piece of carving!
Lets hope that if the tree is diseased, it won't rot too quickly!
Best Wishes, and stay safe!!

I agree Nick. I could live in this village. All the houses have the beautiful honey coloured Hamstone. I was impressed with the totem pole, but it is in a position that I don't think many people find. I hope that one day you get to visit the house. Thanks for your kind comments.
Take care and have a good day ~ Rosa.

Such a beautiful and imposing looking house............and practically deserted too. Wonderful detail and colour as always Rosa.

I love the Totem Pole................it's very intricately carved and looks good against the green tree in background.

I don't think I've ever seen a twisted sweet chestnut tree before.............it' really quite stunning and you've captured it beautifully against the sky.

I have a small twisted hazel tree in my garden..............but i suppose that doesn't count :-)))

Good to see you're getting out and about............our weather has been rubbish of late and it's been a few days since I've been out with the camera. It's supposed to be getting better as the week goes on though, so fingers crossed. Take care.

The gardens are on the other side of the house Keith. There were more people there. We were all taking advantage of the rare sunny day! I have only ever seen the twisted chestnut trees in this garden Keith. They are fascinating. Haha, I am looking out on my neighbour's twisted hazel tree now Keith, being blown about in the wind!

We have decided to go out every Wednesday and so far the weather has been good on those days. I hope it lasts! I hope you can get out and about again soon. Take care and have a good new week.

A fine display from this wonderful gem of a house Rosa. It is a very grand looking place and must have plenty things of interest to see inside. The carving on the totem pole is beautiful, obviously created by a very skilled craftsperson. The sweet chestnut tree is quite extraordinary, I have never seen anything quite like it before.

All the best, Doug

Thank you very much Doug. I always enjoy this particular N.T. property as it has beautiful parkland around it and the village is a pleasure to walk around as well. We didn't go inside the house on this occasion, but it is well worth a visit. It is the only place I have seen the twisted chestnut trees.

Have a good new week ahead.

I'm sure you would enjoy a visit Carol. The inside of the house is magnificent and has a very interesting portrait gallery. The gardens are beautiful and the village, although busy has so much to offer. The totem pole is quite hidden, so I was lucky to find it :-)
Many thanks for your kind comments.
