Kingston Lacy ~ Dorset

Kingston Lacy ~ Dorset
Following the ruin of Corfe Castle in the Civil War, the Bankes family rebuilt their home at Kingston Lacy during the 1660's. Nearly two centuries later, William Bankes made the dramatic changes to the house that we see today. There is also a woodland trail of 3 miles (5km) as well as extensive gardens, including the Japanese Garden.

Glad you made it there Rosa...........and well worth it looking at these photos.

The main image is splendid............you've captured the house in lovely light, which has brought out the details and colour in the stonework. Impressive looking lawns too and pristine pathways.

In the first PiP, I like the curve of the balustrade and the display of colourful tulips. The second PiP gives us a bit more context. I like the "wrap around" white bench under the tree.

A smashing little set...........thanks for sharing!

Yes, made it Keith :-) I love the drive to Kingston Lacy as much as the property. The woodland walk was lovely, with lots of bluebells and camellias.

Thank you very much for your kind comments on all three shots. Much appreciated.

A beautiful palace , with such a long and interesting history!
I wondered what it looked like before ...
A great series of pictures, dear Rosa, the first of which is perfectly composed, showing the building against a lovely sky from a great POF.
The details in the second are delightful and the third shows the palace from different perspective.
Well done!
Have a nice weekend dear friend

Thank you dear Adele. Yes I wondered what it looked like before. Maybe when we are able to go inside the house again, there will be something to show how it once was. I am guessing it was not so Italianate, as it is now. He must have been influenced by his trips to Italy.
I hope you have a good and safe weekend my friend. I'm seeing Sophie tomorrow :-))

An impressive place I've never been although my cousin was a volunteer there for years, I think she had many roles over the years gradually getting less energetic as the years advanced

Hi Rosa
A very nice picture, of a wonderful looking house (and some nice benches for HBM tomorrow).
Have you ever wondered what it must be like to live in such a house.. Trying to find your children.. calling everyone for dinner...!!
Best Wishes, a nice week ahead, and stay safe!!

Hi Peter,
Thank you for your kind comments. I think if I lived there I would get the nanny to find the children and the cook to call them to dinner ;o) A beautiful house, and with the N.T. we can all have the pleasure of looking around it. I hope you have a good new week.
Best wishes,
Rosa.

Often passed by, but my attention was caught rather by the beech avenue and Badbury Rings there.
I am not so interested in Houses, but the gardens and lands seem to be worth a drop in.
Nice captures.

I managed to get a half decent picture of the beech trees on this occasion Leon. I will post it sometime this week. The house is closed at the moment, due to the current regulations, but I also enjoy the walks more. Many thanks for your kind comments.

A very elegant NY property, Rosa. We've been to Attingham since the restrictions were lifted, but were disappointed as they were still using cardboard cups for coffee. ;-) The deer were in moult to and looked a shabby.
