I wonder if this is also OK in cooking or salads? I have been put off by some wild garlics that have been SO powerful that even a smidgeon has destroyed a carefully prepared salad!
Lovely shot anyway!

I think I would find it too strong for salads Andy, but definitely OK for cooking. Soups would take it well I'm sure. Thanks for your kind comments.

Cracking shot of the delicate little flower Rosa. We have masses of wild garlic growing in our forge valley and raincliffe woods where it carpets the forest floor. It is a wonderful sight when in flower but when conditions are right the aroma can be a little overpowering!

All the best, Doug

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Doug Shepherd club
Thank you Doug. Yes you are right about the strong aroma. It wasn't too bad in Ninesprings. There were more wood anemones than garlic though.

All the best & take care,
Rosa.

Things you have ... first needed to read the wikipedia about it. Home in western mediterranean. It's not known here in east central europe (at least not to me). But, same as Doug mentioned up there: we have masses of Allium ursinum and had just yesterday pancakes with it. :-)
But it's not in bloom yet.
Beautiful captured.

It grows well in Ninespring Country Park Leon. It has a microclimate and as the name suggests....nine springs ;-)) Well done with the foraging!
Thank you for your very kind comments.

A great macro shot, Rosa. The flower is perfectly position in the frame, and the shallow depth of field is perfect for making the subject pop from the background. As always, I am impressed by you knowledge of the names of flowers. Cheers, Joe

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Joe, Son of the Rock club
Thank you Joe. These have stronger and bigger flowers than the usual carpets of garlic flowers you find in the woods. Although I guessed by their smell they were from the same family, I had to look the name up. This is when PlantNet is very handy. Cheers, Rosa.

Thank you very much Sarah. I must say, I only like garlic cooked, with its milder flavour.
All the best, Rosa.

Spot on focus and depth of field Rosa..........such beautiful flowers.

I love the smell of wild gardlic.........and a couple of flower heads go nicely in a green salad.

Thank you very much Keith. Good to have on the foraging list, especially with mushrooms. A pity they are not in the forests at the same time!

Cold but sunny again down here. Have a good new week.

A very attractive flower. I'm amazed at how many different wild garlic flowers there are.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Jean
Thank you Jean. Yes, I was amazed as well. This one has much bigger flowers than the more common garlic flowers that cover the woods and forests.

A nice capture Rosalyn, the rear of the flower makes a more interesting picture than the face, I have no idea what the 'skin' that covered the bud is called but it makes a nice addition to the image

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
Thank you Peter. You got me thinking about that and it seems it is called the epidermis, the same as describes our outer skin. Hope you have a good new week.

Ese verde contrasta armoniosamente con el pétalos blancos. Deben de tener peso o el viento es quien las vence a todas en el mismo sentido hacia abajo. El fondo las deja protagonismo.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to José Manuel Polo club
Thank you for your kind comments Jose Manuel. They were in a sheltered position o a hillside within the country park, which seems to have its own micro climate.
