Ashmore Pond

Ashmore Pond
I have recently shown many photographs of Ashmore and in particular, the pond. I have always wanted to see it in snowy conditions but would be unable to get there! So I hope you won't mind me showing these that are in fact photos taken by my daughter, who lives in Ashmore.

This pair of pics, Rosa, captures perfectly the feeling of winter. The pond looks lovely, but I don't feel inclined to go for a dook. LOL. Cheers, Joe

I wouldn't recommend a dook when it's not winter Joe. LOL. I am pleased you like the two pics, and I thank you on behalf of my daughter. Cheers, Rosa.

Terriifc shots from the village pond Rosa. Some very fine buildings to be seen and I love the dusting of snow on the thatched roof, just enough to give a covering but not hide the detail of the thatch too much.

All the best, Doug

The dusting of snow was due to the winds that accompanied the powdery snow. It gives a very smooth look to the roof, which I am pleased you noticed. Thank you for your very kind comments.

All the best, Rosa.

A beautiful traditional village duck pond image, a lot neater than Groby Pool (it's a lake ) the part you have access to used to be maintained, now it's natural which of course means brambles and similar rubbish !! It rained last night then froze so everywhere was glazed this morning so i stayed in !!!! I did venture out this afternoon when most had thawed. did you get to see your snowdrops

It's a shame when they are let go Peter. The roads here were very slippery first thing this morning so I walked into town...the milkman didn't come yesterday! Can't say I blame him though! I don't think I will be going to see the snowdrops tomorrow unless there is a big change. Maybe next weekend :)

Cracking shots Rosa, the PiP looks a lovely cottage... It certainly looks cold... Still no snow here, just drizzled a bit.

All the best, John.

Thank you John. Michelle's cottage is about half the size of the one in the picture, but very close to it. Still frozen down here!

Lovely seasonal scene, no matter who was behind the camera Rosalyn. I would say for me though "Best Viewed from indoors in the warm."

Back in the winter of 62/63 I seem to remember that Ashmore was cut off for weeks. Your daughter has served you well Rosa ~~~~

Yes I remember Nick....we were all pretty much cut off! My daughter has only lived in Ashmore for a few months and was longing for snow! Have a good Sunday and keep warm ~ Rosa.

It looks ovely in the snow, well done by your daughter! I gather your area has got a lot of snow with svchools and roads closed. Quite enjoyable if you don't have to go anywhere;-)

I think Cornwall and Devon had it worse than here Gudrun. Sophie's school didn't close....much to her disgust ;-)) They did have a fun time in the school field though! Thank you for your lovely comments.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to tiabunna club
Thank you George. She lives in a little thatched cottage quite close to the one in the picture. In fact you can just see the back of her thatch to the left of the cottage in the main picture.
