Old metal signs on Cranmore Railway Station buildings.

Old metal signs on Cranmore Railway Station buildings.
....except one "His Master's Voice" which is mine and was needed to make up the numbers for the collage :)

Jean-luc Drouin, Ulrich John, Erhard Bernstein, Istvan Farkas and 20 other people have particularly liked this photo

Yes, I know the feeling Doug! I do love the old advertising signs. Lots of replicas around but good to see the genuine old ones.

I recognise all these signs except for the wheat flakes one. Are they all original, Rosa?

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Amelia club
Same here Amelia. I would think they are all original. The one that is mine was one in my father's collection and I always remember seeing it in his shed.

I remember most of them including Force which I have eaten. Zeebrite Grate Polish is a new one for me though :)

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Nick Weall club
That's the one I have not heard of Nick. Not many grates to polish these days, so I wonder if Zeebrite is still around!

The signs of 'those' times Rosa and great to see them.
The 'Field of Dreams' no longer exists as far as I know but very glad that you also went there !!!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Jeff Farley
I think the people who started The Field of Dreams sold the house and land with it.
Thanks for your comments on the signs :)

Such a bright and colourful collage! Beautifully presented Rosa. I also love these old signs, I can remember them all except "Force". I particularly remember "Brasso" from years spent polishing brass fixtures in the RN until I became senior enough to make someone else do them!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton club
Yes, Force is the one I don't remember Keith. I remember my gran using Brasso and that is still sold...but I guess you'd give that product a miss then! Rank obviously helped ;-))
Thanks for your kind comments on this one.

Goodness! there are some oldies there, I don't remember the Zebrite or Wheat Flakes but the others look familiar. Sadly Colman's is about to leave it's Norfolk home soon.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to HappySnapper
Oh yes, I heard about Colman's Maurice. Such a shame. I visited their shop and museum when I was in Norwich. The shop was so beautifully fitted out. I still have the tin of mustard, unopened and that must be about ten years old now!

Hey Rosa, I really like this collage, The "Colman" sign caught my eye, my Dad's family was Coleman's but they put the " e " in it, or is your "colman" pronounced differently.?

best wishes, have a good Thursday with those you love :) Sarah

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Sarah O' club
Oh that's interesting Sarah. I would say it's pronounced the same. The Hilborne family have many relatives in USA and it's spelt many different ways.
Have a great loving day tomorrow Sarah :-) Rosa.

Hi Rosa,

I too recognise this lot. Maybe we are all getting old...
Perhaps there was a 'Robertsons Golden Shred' there too? I know a couple of people who have them at home!
Great collage!

Best Wishes
Peter

Hi Peter,

I don't remember seeing a Golden Shred one at the station, but I know the one you mean. The Bisto sign got the worst of the weather. I would move it if I were them....maybe I'll mention it when I go again :-)
Thanks for your very kind comments.

Best wishes, Rosa.

A wonderful collection Rosalyn the only one I hadn't heard of was Force Wheat Flakes it was made by Nestle until 2013, the Black Lead is made by Stovax, my stove is a Stovax but as I don't use it I won't be polishing it !! The condition of the signs is an indication how well made they were
5 years ago.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
Same here Peter. That was the most colourful and amusing of them. I have a log burner which I clean up to take it through the summer months, but have never used the Stovax product on it...maybe I should! Many thanks for your interest and kind comments.
