Im Winterpelz ... In winter fur...

... stehen diese Kuhschellen (Pulsatilla vulgaris) auf einer Wiese und warten auf höhere Temperaturen, um ihre Blüten zu öffnen. Sie sind schon etwas voreilig, denn noch (Anfang März!) herrscht nachts Frost. Ihr dichtes Haarkleid schützt sie aber vor zu starker Kälte.

... are standing these pasque flowers (Pulsatilla vulgaris) in a meadow, waiting for higher temperatures to open their flowers. They are a bit hasty, because there is still (early March!) frost at night. However, their dense coat of hair protects them from excessive cold.
