Im Aussichtsturm von Jagdschloss Granitz - In the observation tower of Granitz Hunting Lodge - 3 PiPs - HFF
The PiP1 shows the overall view of the castle. In the middle of the castle "rises the 38 m high central tower, built according to plans by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. It contains a cantilevered spiral staircase with 154 cast-iron steps inside (see PiP2). The static forces of the heavy iron staircase are completely absorbed by the side walls; because it is virtually clamped into the tower.
From the 144 m above sea level high viewing platform on the roof of the tower you have a panoramic view in all directions, but especially over the south and east of Rügen (see PiP3). When the weather is clear you can even see Usedom." (quoted from de.wikipedia.org/ wiki/Jagdschloss_Granitz ) Climbing the 38 m high tower requires courage and is not for the faint of heart. The spiral staircase seen in the picture is covered with wonderful iron ornaments (see main picture).
The photos were made during a longer wonderful hiking holiday on Rügen. A visit to the Granitz hunting lodge is actually a must.
Have a nice weekend to all Iperians and HFF!
