Local steps near the house ... and no bench, even on a Monday! :o(

Local steps near the house ... and no bench, even on a Monday! :o(
I try to do these steps at least twice a day as part of my rehabillitation programme, and today I can proudly relate that I didn't have to stop for a breather once, for the first time! It may look easy but there are 98 steps and try doing it in the height of a Spanish summer! And only 2 months ago I was reliant on my walker / zimmer frame!
So Isabel, bring on those mountains! :o)

Congratulations! I have jogged for years. Last August, I tripped and pulled a ham string. I have recovered, but despite regular work, I'm still not back to where I was when I tripped.

Andy Rodker club has replied to TonyF*
Thank you, Tony!
My rehabillitation is necessitated by the fact that I was in an induced coma (Covid) for a couple of months last year and in that time my muscles, especially my leg muscles, became totally wasted. My recovery has been painfully slow but with the help of my physiotherapist, my sister's family and my girlfriend, I have been able to improve physically on all fronts. When I manage something like these steps without stopping for a rest, it puts me in mind of my first mountain walk after I quit smoking. The improvement was dramatic and immediate!
I hope you persevere with your fitness programme - it does take time but the rewards are worth it! I hope it goes well! I was saying; 'No pain, no gain' to myself as a kind of mantra for months and I am totally fed up with it so I've stopped!!
Best wishes,
Andy

Thank you and ha ha, Maggie!
Next stop will be my beloved Sierra de La Cabrera, if not this autumn then, if everything goes according to plan, to get some shots of the wildflower meadows there in May.

Nothing brave about it, Malik - just sheer necessity if I don't want to be in a wheelchair for all my life!!
Thank you for your appreciation!

Is this a quote from a Rocky film, José Manuel?
Only guessing as I've never seen a whole Rocky film from beginning to end! But if you mean a relentless training regime as parallel to my rehabillitaton programme then yes, sometimes it feels that way!

Bravo!

Thank you, Karl!
I met a few patients in hospital who had survived Covid and had been in hospital for over a year, their progress was measurable but agonisingly slow. I talked a lot with them and we met up at the hospital's gym from time to time. Compared to those unlucky ones, I am indeed fortunate in that my recovery has been relatively quick. (Even so it's now well over a year since I was diagnosed with the dreaded lurgy!) I hope your colleague will fight his way out of this eventually. Because it does take all one's strength to fight it!
Thanks again and best wishes,
Andy

I have a mountaineering background so my 'normal' won't be the same as for others, Covid notwithstanding, Typo!
But yes, I'm sure you're right!

Beautifully photographed with a wonderful perspective. I am so glad (and impressed) that you can now climb all the way up those steps without resting on the way (I can manage not more than about 15 steps, but my excuse is that I'm very, very old :)). Wonderful Andy!

I'm not so young myself, Rashid!
But before my back problem from extended steroid use (part of my long term chemotherapy programme for leukauemia) I was regularly walking 15,000 paces a day and 35,000 a day at weekends in the mountains, so I was relatively fit then!
Since Covid, I have that mindset still but an unwilling body which needs a lot of encouragement and force to overcome the weaknesses!
Thank you for your encouragemant, Rashid!

It doesn't look easy to me Andy. Well done with your progress. I have the start of arthritis in my hip so I would struggle at this many steps, although it does ease with exercise...once I get started! Thanks for sharing a picture of your daily routine.
Happy Tuesday.

Andy Rodker club has replied to Trudy Tuinstra club
Thanks Trudy!
My knees and feet and back hurt constantly so I keep having to take painkillers but everything gets worse if I just sit down or lie down for any length of time! My legs need constant activity despite the pain! So it takes me about 10 minutes after getting out of bed to be fully functional and I can't sit down for a meal or in front of the computer for more than about15 minutes at a time without my joints seizing up!

I am so pleased to read that all your hard work since you started your rehabilitation is paying off mate.............I have nothing but admiration for you.

I like the perspective here and the detail............I'm getting a sweat on just looking at it :-))

I have more problems walking downhill than up...........
Andy Rodker club has replied to Keith Burton club
An old friend of mine was convinced that walking downhill was harder than walking up. My many years of mountain walking put paid to that little number! (The only exceptions are VERY steep paths and gravelly or sandy stretches)
Anyway, pleased you like it!
I've just got back from another walk up without pauses, so I will have to aim a bit higher soon! (Exactly what, I don't yet know!).
Thank you Keith and best wishes,
Andy.

Yes, I'm a 'Spring chicken' (as we say!) compared to you! But when I think about it, our 14 years age difference makes me think BACK to when I was 50, and that really does seem like yesterday!
My goal, and fitness target, is to get back to walking in the mountains. I think I could already manage the Cornish coast path, but the mountains of Central Spain are a different matter!
Thank you for your kind thoughts.
