If you don't know this Chopin piece (Ballade No 1) may I suggest you listen to all 8 minutes. it is considered by a few (me included) to be his greatest work. It seems to go through ALL the emotions form A to Z and then some; the music is extraordinarily beautiful and powerful. The audience coughing gets blown away by Sviatoslav Richter's 1960 performance so that you don't really notice it after a while!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Fred Fouarge clubYes, and I had to turn down your generosity of a cheap price because I was absolutely penniless at that moment! Even 5 euros would have been too much!

Very many thanks!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Peggy C clubPeggy C club has replied to Andy Rodker clubI would hide my Rock and Roll records before he got home from work !
Andy Rodker club has replied to Peggy C clubWe laugh about these nonsenses now and I can play him Janis Joplin or Amy Whitehouse and he certainly appreciates the quality of the vocals and he feels free to play me a recording of a relatively obscure 19th century English composer from The Proms. And we discuss these things freely which is how it should be. I just wish it could have been this way 45 years ago! But at least it worked out in the end!
