La Sierra de La Cabrera

La Sierra de La Cabrera
View from El Cancho Gordo along the ridge to Pico De La Miel. In mid distance on top of the ridge is the white guano stained boulder of El Cancho de La Bola, home to my Griffon vulture family friends.

As trester88 and Misou 49 have said, the rock in the foreground is very interesting. It looks like something one would find in a stream, but I am pretty sure the holes were made while it was approximately where it is now. It is worth the climb up here for the view.

Thank you Ronald.
Yes, possibly formed where they are now, but also possible that they were formed under the sea. I read something to that effect some ago and I have forgotten the details. I have seen similar 'holes' in granite areas elsewhere (Cornwall, Scotland, etc).

Terrific view along the ridge Andy. The holes look like eye sockets in a giant skull.

Best wishes, Doug

Perfect framing of this peculiar rock formation. My father was a mountaineer and I remember having traveled these parts with him.
