  • I've had my hair cut!!!!!!

    A simple design, but effective

Woweee!!! After almost 18months, I've at last had my hair cut. I can hardly believe it. I won't have to wear a hair grip, or suchlike again. Oh I feel so much better. I had to walk through a large shop to the back where the hairdressers are situated, and it wasn't until I browsed some shelves where they were selling petunias, that I realised it was close on 2 years since I last went into a shop!!! I have seen pictures of those markings on the floor, with footprints on them, signs saying "this… (read more)

  • Hiya folks.......

Dawn creeping over the mountains in Yashi

I'm so sorry that I've been sort of absent for about 3 weeks now, but things have been more than quiet around my home. We have had some good weather and today the weather gods have decided to remind us that we are coming into the Autumn (Fall to you Americans), and from yesterday's temperatures of 25C ( 77F) to today's 14C (57F). Yesterday I was wearing a sleeveless dress and today I've got long sleeved blouse and am now wearing a cardigan over it!!!! What on earth is going on? We also got our f… (read more)

  • Mandi and I have put the baubles on the tree....

    DSCF7385

For the first time in about 15 years, I've had help in decorating the tree for Christmas. Mandi and I went shopping today - to Asda, as she'd not bought any presents for Christmas and time is a running away................. We trawled around the supermarket and I don't know about you - but supermarkets just before Christmas is not my idea of fun............... Mind you - the decorations were on sale - which is normally after Xmas, so I bought some more gold baubles, forgetting that I actua… (read more)

  • The garden kedis (kittens to you and me)

    This is Gingie

There are other kittens and cats who live in the garden here. Mandi and Dogan have made beds for them under the outside stairs, they've put blankets and cushions for them. They also are fed twice a day and fresh water supplied daily. There are about eight regular cats, who come when called, who had appeared when tiny kittens having been abandoned by the mother cats. This is Gingie - so called because she's ginger and white. She was one of the first to arrive, she was so small, she's g… (read more)

  • I've started Christmas pressie wrapping

They have to go on here until the tree is done

I spoke to Mandi this morning on Skype and she says she'd like to help me decorate the Christmas tree, so that's been put on hold til Friday. She's had her hair cut and it looks amazing. It's very short at the back but the length is the same in the front as before. She looks fabulous and she says it takes her a full 2 minutes to do her hair now!!!! She's coming home on Thursday and it'll be lovely to see her again. She's been pretty ill this last month too - I knew she had a bad cold, but app… (read more)

  • A visitor to the house!!

    New visitor to the driveway

Well it's been really quiet since I lost Pippin and I do want to adopt another cat, but I need to go away to stay with Mandi and Dogan for a couple of weeks and it's just not fair to leave a new cat in a strange home completely alone for a couple of weeks. I know that my friends and neighbours would come in and feed it, but it's not the same. So I'll see about adoption maybe when I come back. Back to the reason for this blog. It was a gorgeous day outside a couple of days ago and I went outs… (read more)

  • The wind dropped for a while this morning..

The tulip is starting to open

Well this morning dawned nice and sunny and the wind had died down. I was keen to see if the tulip had opened up......... Just a little - maybe it's waiting for more sun........... The little wind we had was so cold still. There might have been sun but there wasn't any heat in it......... Pippin nearly always joins me when I go out into the garden, but today I had two escorts. Boo decided to see what we two get up to. I think she realised that the wind had sort of died down and so she wo… (read more)

  • The pussy cats have been enjoying the sun.....

Being a 'tart' on the path

Pippin and Boo have been thoroughly enjoying themselves in the sudden arrival of warmth and the sunshine............ Pippin just loves the sun and is out nearly all day lounging around where possible - he doesn't care if it's on the path or on Mandi's car - he's not proud. He even loves sleeping on the arm of the couch totally prone, with four legs straddled over....... Whereas Boo...... Loves her box.............. Lying on the carpet in the sun.............. Or sh… (read more)

  • Noodles came a-visiting.....

Talk about getting yourself in danger, Pippin was just below

I've spoken about Noodles before, but today he took things a bit further - he decided to take his chances by walking into my lounge!!!! He's a very pretty cat - I'm assuming he's a boy - I mean who would call a girl "Noodles" anyway? Well I was aware of a black and white cat walking into my lounge - I said hello and he miaowed back, but carried on walking in. I knew Pippin was outside, so I was waiting for the kerfuffle - nothing!!! Then I was aware that Noodles had decided to go to the couc… (read more)

  • The Immigrant

© Fran C 2015 The sun beat down as I walked to work under a clear blue sky. A gentle breeze blew my hair, playing it across my face and I absentmindedly tucked my hair behind an ear. As I walked, I heard a crunching underfoot and I glanced down and scowled. All across the pavement was the detritus from a visitor to our shores. I walked carefully, aware that the broken detritus might damage my shoes. The bushes rustled and I thought I espied our visitor but he hid from me. I’ve tried to be fri… (read more)

  • A new kitty wanted to come in!!!!!

Didn't seem put off by me taking its picture

The other day I looked up and saw this beautiful kitty looking in..... Not seen it before and I just loved its markings. I've decided it's a "she" because she is too pretty to be a "he" cat. I told it I wasn't going to open the window and he just stayed there, silently miaowing to me!! As I said - it's a very pretty cat - soft fluffy coat and lovely markings. Funnily enough just after this, I went into the kitchen and I heard the cat flap go and she walked in and wh… (read more)

  • Old Photos.

    fatty pups 004

I was looking for something, in some old files, and found these: Bailey with his Mum and siblings. Puppies exploring. Only a few months old from 2008. Let us out! lol My son, and Bailey. From 2008. Bailey less than 2 months old. He was ridiculously cute! The dog... lol Not a good one of me lol. No wonder we loved that dog, he was so adorable. About 18 months old, I think. He was a tad crazy back then, and so excitable! Look at those teeth! A little older, not long after a bath. He… (read more)

  • A right mess

On looking round the room this morning I decided it was time for a clear up,something I am not used to doing because I don't leave mess. Before taking the rug and mats out and vacuuming I cleared my guest's junk. From Ellen,1 pair of shoes,a top of some kind,a handbag,a brolly ( nope no idea why that is in here either ) these I deposited on the stairs, also she left the front line for the cats an empty fag packet, a cordial glass, and 2 coffee mugs, no idea why 2. These have been cleared. Now t… (read more)

  • three photos,flowers and felines

The Sweet William are really starting to show now this bloom is the largest with 5 more close behind and some just breaking through. Sooty is a great one for washing he will wash anybody or anything. One of his favourite victims is a sleeping Zazzles .He washes the poor cat until he wakes him up and then Zazzles batters him. .He has also learned to open cupboard doors and go exploring so after Zazzles roughed him up that's what he did. Cat: a pygmy lion who loves mice, hates dogs,… (read more)

This morning there was no sign of the promised strong wind and rain. This altered my plan for shopping I strolled over did my big shop left it to be delivered and headed home again. Still at least it was on the homeward leg and I was… (read more)

  • Mandi is still in Turkey.....

    Bodrum castle

Well Mandi is still in Turkey and she's applied for the residency permit and after a lot of struggling to go from one department to another with the necessary paperwork, they finally managed to get all done and notarised yesterday. So in about 2 weeks she should have her residency card and that will mean she can come and go, stay as long as she wants to etc. The relief showing on their faces was wonderful to see. Also while they had time, they've arranged for wi-fi etc to be set up in their home… (read more)

  • I've been banned from Tesco

Yesterday I was at my local Tesco's store buying a large bag of My Dog dog food for my loyal pet and was in the checkout queue when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had an elephant? So, since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Dog Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn’t, because I ended up in hospital last time, but I'd lost 10 kilograms before I woke up in intensive care with tubes coming o… (read more)

  • Update on Sooty

Here is an update on the wounded Sooty. Thank you for all your best wishes for his speedy recovery. I did report them to him but he turned over and went back to sleep. Yesterday when he returned from the vet he ate little and slept a lot,a good sign the sleeping bit. When he did move he didn't put his injured foot on the floor but hopped along on three legs. This morning was pretty much the same tale but by late afternoon he was walking on all fours,he is still limping of course but that is i… (read more)

  • So how is it going so far? I hear you ask

It is time to assess the impact of my lodgers. This will be in two parts part one about learning to live with the cats. Ellen and the cats moving back in with me after I had lived alone for 13 years was a massive change in my lifestyle. For the cats in was also an upheaval from the paved and high walled streets of town to the wide open grass and trees of the island. They settled in very quickly, a few traumas with injuries and cat fights with their neighbours along the way but we got through… (read more)
