Fine capture, Rosa!
I don't like pigeons in the main so imagine my surprise when, in an early visit to see my sister in Spain, everyone oohed and aahed whenever they saw one of these flying rats. In Spanish 'paloma' is both dove and pigeon and they don't see the difference!

Thank you Andy. I don't mind the couple I get in the garden. I also have doves visit and love watching them. They move much quicker than the fat pigeons!

A great action shot, I don't mind the ones in the garden they don't seem to do any damage but on the allotment they are a total pest if it's not netted it's gone, a grey misty morning but the snow went overnight, I hope hope you have a good day Rosalyn

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
Thank you Peter. I don't mind the ones in my garden either. I find all birds a problem when we start growing things. Plenty of netting needed....I must remember to buy more! All the snow gone here as well. Hope you also have a good day.

Well captured pigeon images! These and European doves have both been introduced here. The pigeons only seem to show up in cities, but we have doves visiting daily - I must get a shot of them.

Thank you George. I like watching the doves that visit my garden and only get a couple of pigeons. These days, I do notice them more in towns. I think it's all the take-aways people sit around eating....easy food for them. They must wonder where we all are at the moment!!

Love these two well-time action shots Rosa..............the blur of the wings really enhances the sense of movement. Excellent..!!

These look like Wood Pigeons............I have a regular bunch of four or five that visit my garden every day. We also get Collared Doves. Also a pair of feral pigeons visit each day or so. I love them.

I think pigeons get bad press............it's hardly their fault that they go searching for food in our gardens and cities..........us humans have encroached on the natural landscape so much that they don't have much choice. We also insist on feeding them in the cities by leaving so much food-related litter everywhere! Sorry........rant over!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton club
They are wood pigeons Keith, and getting very fat! I can't help liking them. I have noticed in places like Weymouth where people are actively encourage to dispose of take-aways responsibly and not to feed the seagulls and pigeons, there are far fewer trying their luck.

The collared doves are lovely to watch. At the moment I am getting quite a few long tailed tits, but they are so fast moving that I haven't managed a decent shot from the kitchen window yet.

Thanks for all your kind comments. We all feel better after a bit of a rant now and then ;-))

You managed these reasonably well It needs a lot of patience Rosalyn, just knowing when the bird is about to take flight or where it is going to land is a matter of practice. Birds often defecate just before take off which I use as a sign to point the camera.

I try to keep the camera handy for these shots through the kitchen window Maurice. I delete so many, but occasionally I get lucky :) That's a good tip....I didn't know that!

A lovely capture. Beautiful wing action. I have a pair of wood pigeons who are garden regulars and a pair of collared doves who come and go. All visitors are welcome. I'd love to have some long tailed tits and envy you. Hope you manage to get a shot of them.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Jean
Thank you Jean. I keep the camera handy when I am in the kitchen, and the identification book. Yes the long tailed tits are so pretty. I'll keep trying to get a good picture of them, and remember not to wear the red jumper....they see me too quickly in the window ;-))

Excellent action caught there Rosa; our pigeon population started with two or three a few years back, counted around 30 of them lining up on the roof the other day. They can be funny to watch though, there were six of them fighting for space to bathe in a garden plant tray this morning, ended up with three largest just sitting in the water defending their space!

They must be very well fed around your way :)
